I can’t get the rocket-like black stabilizers to stay in. Is there a trick?

Push down hard and they should pop in. We actually duct taped ours on as there was no need to remove them once placed the first time.

How far does it launch the balls?

About 5 or 6 feet up in the air (eye-level for an adult). Over my son’s head, but he hits it on the way down.
