I move the drive back forth between two home computers and also use it my laptop. I am hoping to get longevity from this drive close to what would be offered by an M2 2280 3D NAND internal SSD. I used LUKS full drive encryption. I also later ordered a second one of these drives, which I use for a complete drive backup (via dd command) about once per week. I had run a speed test using gnome disks using various size files, which returned read speeds between write 370 MB/sec and 440 MB/sec and 310 MB/sec and 420 MB/sec. I use the drive 5 to 6 times per week 2 to 5 hours at a time on a journaling file system. If it doesn't last at least a year, I will update this review. It runs a little hot but my application is really making it work. Review: Out box the drive was ExFAT formatted with no files present. Initial Blackmagic Speed Test looked good with 1,072 MB/s writes and 917 MB/s reads. Dragndrop write of many GB of large photo and video files, write speed dropped 90%.
