As others have noted the desk is sturdy, the design is simple. The "Sumptuopus Cherry" vinyl-like finish is quite a bit darker than depicted and looks more like "Sumptuous Dark Walnut". The packing and shipping was without a hitch- and then came the dreaded assembly noted by most all Amazon reviewers.Mine was no exception. It was about a four hour affair that began with me spreading all the pieces and parts out to familiarize myself with what lay ahead. This wasn't my first rodeo as far as assembling large items manufactored primarily for ease of shipment as much as for the products final use. What became evident as soon as I started assembling the drawer in "Step one" I noticed nine Euro-screws for attaching the drawer rails/guides were missing. Repacking this mess and mailing it back was not an option especially since I tore the hell out of the box unpacking it.I called the 1-800 number provided and who would have thought but , "All representatives were unavailable. Please leave your name and number...." I did, and went back to the array of parts seaching for the missing '13 mm Euro Screws' like an ape who keeps repeating the same frustrated behavior with the same negative result. Paging thru the instructions I noticed a yellow page addenda depicting a drawer assembly showing regular flat head wood screws with a part number not indicated in "List of parts". I found the 'extra unidentified' screws and went back to work and it turns out assembling the desk itself was the easiest part. Assembling the drawers was the hardest part. As per the recomendation calling out for two persons to undertake the job would have been helpful for this aspect and mounting the desktop. The instructions have little narrative and rely on isometric drawings with small print. Most of the parts were packed randomly in different plastic bags (Eight dowels mixed with screws and a ninth dowel in another bag?? The parts measurements are shown according to the metric system which may present a minor problem for those Americans like myself who have yet to embrace the standard. In any case, after an afternoon with a few incidents of fumbling with clips and Euro-screws it went well. I also used "Elmers White Glue"( no glue included)for all the doweled connections and to some of the drawer connections for added strength In the end the product appears durable (more so than other prefab furnishings I have assembled hence use of the glue) and attractive (as long as the unfinished front is against a wall), It is reasonably priced. My only and very minor disapointment is that it is not "Sumptous Cherry".

Parts were broken. You would assume on plastic parts they would send and extra. Nope. A week to get them. and I have a mess in my floor with half assembled desk. I am old, but I however not incapable, but this desk made me feel that way sometimes. Things are not labeled properly, and are hard to locate the marking, and are not even on some pieces. I will avoid this brand forevermore. Manufacturer wasn't particularly nice, eitherIt went in the trash, unfinished. A handyman said that is what he would do. I agreed.

Update! Changing to 4 stars from 2 because I contacted South Shore, they were super friendly and got right in shipping a new desk top! Can't do 5 star since original was damaged. Hopefully it arrives with no damage but super satisfied with the customer service! Would definitely recommend now.Desk was damaged when we received it. Unfortunately we did not see it until it was 3/4 put together, at the point the instructions told us to turn the desk upright. When we did is when we noticed the crack down the top. I should have inspected each piece and I did but the top was so heavy we didn't turn it over until that point in the instructions. Otherwise the desk would have been perfect.

Bought this desk for my daughter, the color matched her existing furniture. She needed something bigger for High School. She picked it out and is very happy with it. For the price point, it's an excellent choice. Quality is above average. Color is consistent. All parts received, nothing was missing. Here are more observations and experiences:1) Box is VERY heavy. It took two people to bring into the house and up the steps.2) Packaging was sturdy enough. The top came out of the box with a 6-inch crack. I called the phone number on the instructions and another was received free of charge within 5 days.3) Instructions are 4-panels on a single sheet and are printed with small text, making the diagrams hard to read. Sure enough, I placed brackets on the drawers backwards due to the unclear instructions. A better instruction package would be to have one diagram on a single page, making it larger. Of course, that would be more paper. Maybe a link on a Website to larger print diagrams would be a good alternative.4) Give yourself plenty time for assembly. It took us 3 hours, including re-attaching drawer guides that were put on incorrectly. This mistake caused us to take apart several pieces to get to the guides.5) Careful tightening screws. I used a cordless screwdriver and the first screws got stripped. Keep the torque at a low level.6) I found the nails that attach the thin color-matched fiberboard to the openings in the back of the desk were hard to use. Instead, I used a professional staple gun. Much easier, more accurate and it holds better than nails.All told, I would give the desk a 9 out of 10. I would recommend it highly.

The desk is beautiful! The finish is really nice, and I put it together myself (just help flipping it over on it's back to install the back board, and then again standing it upright. I'm almost 68 years old! The most confusing thing was the direction to put the drawer glides LOL! I'm always confused by those, and the pictures on the instructions as well as the video you can scan to watch to put it together are not clear, but I figured it out! We needed a desk for my husband to set p a second office, in a small space, and this desk fit the bill! There's enough storage and a big enough top to hold his laptop, 27" monitor and still plenty of room to spread out and write notes! Overall, it is exactly what we needed!

Assembly was helped by using an app. There were no markings / tabs on any of the pieces. It is quite sturdy. I gave it a 4 star overall review because it is only paper covered wood , AZ expected. Still a very useable desk

....all the larger pieces had discolorations that were not part of the grain lines, they are opposite to the lengthwise grain. This was very disappointing, especially since this is such a heavy item and we didn't want to have to return it.Fortunately, Amazon "made it right" with a reasonable discount and hopefully these imperfections will gradually fade with cleaning. But it definitely isn't perfect.Sturdiness and how it was packed was fine.Arrived in one box so VERY heavy, over 100 pounds I believe. That should be looked at. No one should have to move a box that is this heavy.😕😕I have included photos to show the "discoloration" lines I am referring to, unfortunately they are noticeable.😔PS, Now in the process of assembling. The instructions and diagrams are not great. Would not advise attempting if you aren't handy and familiar with assembly of other furniture items. This should have been a lot easier overall but will persevere and complete!Helpful votes are always appreciated.😊

Box it arrived in was very heavy, but all pieces were intact and damage free.After looking at instruction book and the number of pieces it seemed impossible. BUT I scanned the QR code and downloaded the BILT app. Instructions through the app were fantastic, made assembly a breeze! Able to replay, zoom in and out, etc etc. Only ran into an issue on almost the last instruction which was for bottom drawer. I thought the holes didn't match up. Then I realized assembly of the drawer was 100% possible, just the instructions weren't quite right. But it all fit together perfectly. Only needed help flipping desk upright, but otherwise is a one person assembly. Took me about 2-3 hours.Back of desk is unfinished, but that was expected and no big deal, it's up against a wall.

I really like this desk, it was easy to assemble (my second time assembling a desk and took only 3-4 hours). It came a bit damaged and had couple of dings on the top piece! Which they sent me a new one so no complaint about that. Their customer service is great and smooth!I took 1 star off because of the back, it doesn't look like in the photos and it's just unfinished particleboard, normally I wouldn't mind but I'm putting it in the middle of a room so it really matters!Overall happy with the purchase

I bought this desk to accommodate a new laptop + 32" inch monitor combination and it's great for this purpose. I hired a furniture-assembly guy to build the desk; who said it was somewhat lacking in terms of instructions (which means there's no way I'd have been able to do it myself!) I took off one star is because the keyboard tray and chair-opening of the desk is on the left side and I'm left-handed. This means the side-surface (above the drawers) isn't convenient for writing notes, etc. It would be nice if the configuration were reversible. However, this is a sturdy, lovely desk and I'm glad I bought it. I'd recommend this desk to others and wouldn't hesitate to buy other products from the same company.
