if you need to replace an old triple circuit Kenmore/Whirlpool and it's not sold anymore, this might do it for you...
I'm guessing I can't be the only person with an older Kenmore/Whirlpool refrigerator. After 16 years, the icemaker stopped making ice. And after narrowing it down to the water valve inlet I found that the part (part #2206123, model# 106.59212990) isn't sold anywhere. I was about to give up when I found another review here for someone who had the same problem and fixed it with this generic replacement. I'm only writing this here because it finally fixed my issue after a lot of time spent trying to fix it. The Kenmore we have uses a triple circuit and this one is only two, but if it's one of the two in back that has the problem this will work. You can test the existing solonoids with a multi meter to see which one is bad - go to youtube and search for how to test refrigerator solonoid with a multimeter. Then basically I took out the entire assembly and replaced both solonoids that are together with the new ones. You have to do a little bit of screwing/unscrewing to get the old ones off, but it's pretty straight-forwad. The main piece of advice, which I didn't heed myself, is to use your cell phone to take pictures as you take out, and take apart the old water valve - if you're like me and have never done this before, the pictures are a big help when you're trying to remember where certain things go.Also, check the part numbers - although mine is a Kenmore, it's made by Whirlpool, and it's in several other brands which may have different part numbers even though they're all identical. So, if you have one of these older triple circuit refrigerators and really want ice made again, this may do the trick. Oh yeah the other thing is that even if I found the original part, it sold for about $75....this was about $13...big difference.

Just like the original.
This may not be a fair review.Because I did not end up installing it. But, it got here in a timely manner. It was exactly like the one already on the refrigerator. But ultimately, it was not our problem. The old one had copper tubing, improperly installed.I replaced the hose first. That was our problem. So we didn’t end up needing it. It looked pretty simple to install. But with the research I did before I bought it. I can say. “It was a good deal. And it was an exact match for our refrigerator. “I would definitely buy from this company again, if I needed something in the future.

Quick and cheap fix for a broken water dispenser
Replaced the dual valve on my Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator GC5SHGXLS00 after the water dispenser quit working. This is NOT an OEM part... manufacturer has discontinued making the original and I don't think anybody else makes the original one. This generic valve looks different, but it simply works!I did not need any of the included tubes/hardware except the mounting bracket and screws. All the existing tube fittings and electrical plugs worked without any modifications.Another review mentioned that they had to drill additional holes in the included bracket to be able to fasten it to the refrigerator. Not necessarily true. The short side of the right-angle bracket has a long enough slot so I could attach it to the mounting flap on the base of the fridge using two screws. I then mounted the valve to the bracket using the two nuts/bolts (provided). The orientation of the valve compared to the original installation is different, but I had enough slack in the tubes to allow me to mount it in a position that I was satisfied with. All told, the installation took about 20 minutes with a cordless drill/driver and a flat screwdriver. Oh, and it was a good opportunity to clean out all the crap from behind and under the fridge :-)

I replaced this valve and the problem is cured and the ice maker works like it should
The ice maker would freeze up the water input tube and no water would enter the ice maker. Took it apart and thawed the ice out of the input tube numerous times but in a few days it would refreeze solid again. I then insulated the input tube with no success as I thought the exterior air flow on the tube for some reason was causing the freeze up. I finally found a video on Youtube showing that if the water valve seeps/leaks a small amount of water, over time it will build up a frozen ice layer that builds up until the input tube is full of ice and no water makes it to the ice maker. I replaced this valve and the problem is cured and the ice maker works like it should. The kit had all of the parts needed. It fits quite a few different configurations so there is a bag of extra fittings and adapters. It took about 30 minutes to compete the change over using basic wrenches and nut driver/small socket set and it has been in for 1.5 months and is working good. Saved a lot of $$ and my wife is very pleased.

Won't be identical to your original valve but does the trick, good price.
Item appeared exactly as in photo. Many extra parts included to ensure hook up was possible. For somebody with no experience in something like this I was able to replace the part with a little youtube guidance. The pressure bolts are a little less convenient than the original press and release hook ups on my original model but no complaints as far as how it functions. One small issue was that our water filter line is neither 5/16 or 1/4 but that was easily solved with an extra connecter from the hardware store (the part does contain a 1/4 to 5/16 converter, since apparently most filter lines are 5/16 and the valve allows hook up for 1/4 at that input).Ordered this to hopefully fix my ice maker problem since many suggested that this is the first thing to check. Unfortunately it was not what was wrong with my ice maker (to no fault of this product). Can verify this product works correctly because it also supplies the water dispenser in the fridge which functioned perfectly after replacement.

Perfect fit for Subzero 590
It was a prefect replacement for my Subzero 590. It stopped the water dripping from the dispenser and also flooding of the ice maker. Came with all the parts you need. Make sure to drain the water for a sufficient amount of time (couple gallons) after install to get all the air bubbles out.

Great replacement for older fridges.
This was the exact replacement for my 20 year old Kenmore brand fridge. No adapters needed, the inlet and two outlet threads were identical . Same as mounting position and wiring plug. Still working perfectly after one month use.
