Not bad
My much-loved Sony D-NF340 is dying after many years of use and I've just bought this as a replacement. The build quality isn't quite as good as the Sony but it's acceptable, and after trying it out with some fairly acoustically complex music I've decided the sound reproduction isn't too bad either. At a first listening I thought it seemed a bit 'tinny' by comparison with the old one, and maybe it's just a case of quickly forgetting what it was like, but I now fancy I can hear things in there that weren't apparent in the Sony. Good enough anyway. My main criticism is that the anti-jog mechanism is a bit iffy, although this seems to vary with the CD being played. It's okay for doing the washing-up anyway! I agree with another reviewer that replacing the batteries isn't easy and might be tricky for older fingers, but the ribbon helps with pulling them out. I don't yet know how long the (rechargeable) batteries last but it's several CDs worth per charge. I understand why few manufacturers bother with them now, but it's a pity that no-one makes a top quality one in small numbers, rather in the way that a few still make vinyl record decks. I'd certainly be prepared to pay a premium price for it. I'm tempted to buy a second of these and store it away, as I daresay portable CD players will soon have gone the way of the desktop computer and the landline telephone. Pity.

Buyer beware - the critical comments are true!
This is a "Curates Egg" of a CD player - "parts of it are excellent"! The sound quality is good but the mechanics of this player are TERRIBLE.This has made me wonder whether Amazon should indicate what percentage of purchasers have actually sent in a review. I say this because there were some bad reviews, which I took to be exceptions. I assumed these were posted by reviewers who were sufficiently annoyed to take the time to write a review. But then I tried my machine and all the worst problems showed up! When I first started to find problems I assumed (wrongly) that this might be due to trying a new piece of kit that needed to be played a few times to get going. Yes, I had difficulty in getting the batteries into the small hole - don't try to push one end in first, just rest it on the hole and then push down. I have found it uses batteries very quickly. But then up come all the other problems - not immediately but one at a time over time - i.e. beyond the replacement time. Yes it does say "no disc" when there is one, It can fail to start (keep trying, opening (wide) and closing the lid etc). It can stop during playing and not re-start. Some times it works but too often it does not and you have to start all over again. With all of these comments and those of other reviews, surely Amazon should get back to the manufacturers and try to sort out what is potentially a good player. Hence, I would NOT recommend this CD player until Amazon can promise that you will not run the risk of a faulty version. This CD player very much puts Amazon's reputation that on the line. Surely one should be able to trust Amazon not to sell flawed item!

Smart AEG Cd Player
This was a nice surprise, a smart gloss black finish, and a display that was very large by comparison to other Cd Players, showing sound source (Cd/Mp3), track number and track time played, the Volume was strong with the supplied headphones, with extra bass available, but there is still room for improvement. There is a Cd compatibility issue which needs addressing, some that I tried would Error out and not play on this machine, where other portable players I have had no problem playing the same Cd's. A shame for such a smart player. The 40sec AntiJogging worked perfectly with an option to turn this off if needed. An interesting feature was the addition of an OutPut 3.5 jack socket, this would be well suited to connecting this player to a HiFi or Radio or similar amplifier with an imput. I found this player easier to use than many others I've tried. One note I should mention, the under Cd battery box was a little tight installing the batteries, but it did have a useful tag to help battery ejection, and no doubt will slacken with time.

Rip off on speedy delivery charge - but player is ifne
Functional and easy to use for someone with macular degeneration - except for the display unit which is useless as tiny and no contrast; why cant display units be done in black and yellow as standard which is best for most sight loss conditions and made bigger as a matter of course?Paid for two day delivery service @ 7.99 not cheap; then it stated at check out that delivery would be four days after I ordered it and no option to to do anything about this- so Im very pissed off about rip off on delivery. But need to draw a distncition between that aspect of service which I rate as very poor and the object itself which is fine.

"Disposable" CD Player
Not bad.....worked quite well for most of its life - but in the last three months or so it has been increasingly giving error messages. This has now changed to "No CD" - it doesn't spin the CD and, obviously, doesn't play the CD! This is at 11 months....so theoretically just within 12 month warranty period. However - try getting support out of Amazon and good luck to you! They say to visit the manufacturer's website - and provide a link - but the link only leads to Amazon's general 'help' section. Not very helpful.Overall, I'd say it's OK as long as you want a 'disposable' option. I'm not replacing it with another one, though....
