Form Over Function
They work. The tapered corners have a slightly more refined look but the machining leaves a little to be desired when compared to the discontinued version. The recoil lug is almost non-existent as it barely protrudes through base. The fit of the front base is a little wider than the old version so it must be slid further forward to lock in and align with the bore. This becomes problematic for long actions and scopes with short mounting tubes. I searched and found the old version and it is flawless.
