While Mark Grayson and Eve have been gone... things have gotten worse on Earth. And their lives will never be the same again. From visionary creators Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Cory Walker (Science Dog), and Ryan Ottley (Amazing Spider-Man). Collects INVINCIBLE #121-132. Review: Excellent book - Exactly what I ordered and arrived on time Review: High quality continues, but despite the 'reboot' don't be fooled this is not the place to start. - Many moons ago, this started out as a mixture of Spiderman style 'teenage angst' , clean lined Superman/Justice League/Teen Titans style space opera and shockingly graphic violence. the talent of the creators was enough to make it work as it played on old tropes without ever feeling like a rip-off or pastiche. Kirkman, Ottley and Walker continue to tell interesting , beautifully rendered, stories and though it does feel like things are working towards a conclusion I'm in no hurry to see the series finish. The Hard cover collected version remains of high quality and indeed appears to be the most economical way to buy the books (which is a nice combination). For those who haven't yet tried the books, this is not the place to start. Although the 'reboot' sequence does give a brief (alternate) history of Mark's early days as invincible the broader story is too rich to miss out on.

The hunt for Thragg and Mark gets a helluva shock
Containing Volumes 22 & 23, this collection gives us more unexpected events and this makes for a compulsive read and the title โReboot?โ says a lot. A good single plot dominates the first volume and it is well-told and well-illustrated. It's worthwhile reading this and I recommend it to all Invincible fans โ and there's more to come, I'm sure.

Major changes, takes some chances, leaves me eager for more
I've said before and will say again that Invincible is the best superhero comic of the last 10+ years. I've been following it through the hard covers and when each one comes out I tear it open and read it the same day. And usually take down the previous volumes to reread. As a grown up without much time, that's high praise. This volume follows the major changes of the last few books. Invincible has left Earth and become a father. While he was gone, the superhero Robot has quietly taken over the world to pursue his Utopian vision. And, so far, done rather well. With this book Kirkman takes new chances, which I won't spoil. The book includes an interesting look back on Invincible's earliest adventures which only reminds me how good this book is. There's also an art change with long-time artist Ryan Ottley stepping down for original artist (and co-creator) Cory Walker. I'm not sure what the story behind the change is but both artists are great and there's no change in quality. The book is planned to wrap up with issue #144 (this book covers up to #132) which is the only bad news. it will be missed.
