Is there any provision to keep the clock accurate when power to the unit is off?

It will save the time zone no matter the unit is off, and it could get accurate via GPS satellite signal.

Is the unit rechargable with the usb or must always be plugged in? Can the unit be hardwired?

Hi, Felix. The HUD does not have a battery, so there is nothing to recharge. It must be plugged in in order to be used. But it has a memory, so unplugging it and replugging it doesn't affect the settings. I do it all the time, because I don't want the unit to be "on" when the car is parked, especially in public, and my accessory power socket (aka "cigarette lighter") is always hot. I suppose you could hardwire the unit, but why would you want to? (Messing with your car's wiring is frequently a Bad Idea.) The unit is designed to be powered through the power cord they provide, and I would suggest not using anything else. I don't know how much voltage the unit works on, but it may not be a straight 12v. I don't know whether the supplied power cord changes that.

Will this work on a 2020 toyota prius prime xle?

Sits on the Dashboard and uses 12 volts from the car battery as the power source. Used some Velcro to keep it in place. It came with a lighter plug for power. Hopefully you have that option in your car.
