How well does this work with ethanol-based fuels?

Absolutely fine. I sealed the steel tank on a 1986 F150 that I fill religiously with 87 10% ethanol. Hasn't leaked in over a year.

How big of an area will one kit repair? Example 4 x 6 inches etc?? Thanks -Mike-

If you need the fiberglass patch, I think it was about 2"x4". If you're just using the epoxy, it will cover more area - probably a 10"x10" area or even larger if it doesn't need to be too thick. Just a word of caution that once you start mixing the 2 chemicals it starts to harden within about 15mins, so you don't have a lot of time to delay. I learned this the hard way. :(

Antique oil lantern with leaky reservoir about 2 inches in diameter. There are several pinholes in the steel. Will this coat the entire bottom?

Yes it should ,but you must make sure it is clean and all the oil is removed. Or it may not stick to metal. . I don't know if it's permanent. I did my gas tank 5 years ago and I see a drop under the car

How well will this product hold up to vibrations? I have a fuel tank on a generator with a crack which meed fixing

I would say pretty well. If properly applied it dries just as hard as regular JB Weld. Used the fuel patch on a tank for an old farm truck, didn't leak for the two years I had the truck.
