Sailor Moon, Season One, Complete and Uncut

I collected all the DVDs released on amazon.com, and I had been waiting a long time with eager hopes that eventually, you would be able to get original episodes, uncut, and with great subtitles. This is what you *almost* have here! The original music, voices, cut scenes, cut EPISODES from the English variation (6 out of 46, if you count that the last episodes were cut down into one episode in the English version). However, the translators were lazy. Anyone who knows anything about Sailor Moon (or a little Japanese, which I do) knows that she nevers says any of that Champion of love and justice crap. Usually, what she's actually saying is something along the lines of "pretty soldier in a sailor suit." "Sailor fuku bishoujo senshi." They just copied that other phrase, among several others, direct out of the English version. The subtitles aren't accurate to what they are saying in Japanese. However, some things were changed and translated properly. It's still quite disappointing, though, that you'll have to learn Japanese or have someone who knows Japanese already to explain to you what they're actually saying without subtitles still. Way to go, ADV. However, it's still great! I mean, hearing the original voices and everything is *so* worth it. Even if the subtitles are sad (especially when the title on the cover of the DVD boxes is a mark off of her popular quote that they maimed), there's so much you miss in the English version. DIC cuts out entire back stories and supports to the plot. If you're a real Sailor Moon fan, you're gonna want to check this out!

Personally, I would buy this if your just one of the unlucky or unfornate people that never got to see the true last episode, aka, "Day of Destiny" which in reality is two episodes long. It will bring you to tears or VERY close to them.And yes the sound is lacking, and it does look like someone stood there with a camera and shook it as it was filmed, but trust me, it's easy to get over when you see some of your favorite, classic episodes of Sailor Moon, espically the uncut versions and "lost episodes" such as the one where Sailor Moon goes to a bar, the one where the Mars, Mercury, and Moon go to a haunted house on their vaction, or the one with Sailor Venus past, which episodes never aired in the dubbed English version.The jokes are funnier, and the episodes are relitivly longer because everything was left in (any nudity or violence), so there won't be that thing where you watch Sailor Moon says and are just like "Hey! That never happened in the show!"And another thing is all the sexes are finally correct, such as Ziocite or however you spell it being a male instead of a female. Scary but true.But as I stated, anyone who has always wondered what was the real ending of "Day of Destiny", with each Sailor's death and the true fight behind Serena and Darian (which was awsome) not to mention the Japanese music, (or the orginal Sailor Moon Music) than definatly by this box set...then go for the second season.

Like many members of the "classic Toonami" generation, I grew up watching the hacked-up English dubbed version of Sailor Moon. That said, while I'm glad that the original version of Sailor Moon has finally been released over here, the DVD sets put out by ADV leave much to be desired. I know that this series is over 15 years old and originally aired in monaural sound, but on these DVDs, the show looks and sounds quite murky. Surely it's not THAT hard to put out a mono track with some degree of clarity, right? Even FUNimation's recent Dragon Ball Z sets do better on their mono Japanese tracks. While we're at it, the show's opening credits sequence is normally placed between the episode preview and the "Usagi intro", but here, it's placed before both the episode preview and the "Usagi intro". What's up with that?Also, to anyone attempting to buy this from a Marketplace seller: beware of sellers claiming to sell "import editions" or hawking these sets for under $100. ADV released this set with Region 1 (North America/etc.) encoding, and THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "IMPORT EDITION" UNLESS YOU ARE BUYING A REGION 2 PRODUCT! These sellers (such as "monscreate" and "amazon-joe") are selling BOOTLEGS under the guise of legitimate releases, and they do this for many other titles such as Full Metal Panic!, Last Exile, and Samurai Champloo (three-disc releases of 26-episode series are also a dead giveaway because this invariably results in decreased audio/video quality). In short: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Welcome to what will certainly be a new dimension of the Sailor Moon series. For the American fans that have been exposed to the youth-friendly DiC cuts, ADV has taken the right step by introducing the first season the way it was meant to be seen. All episodes are uncut, taken off of the original Japanese masters, and fitted with English subtitles.Many details will stand out between the American release and the unedited, original version. Perhaps this stands out the most in the final two episodes. Due to its graphic content, the final two episodes of the first season were condensed to a single episode for the American release. Here, however, you will be able to see how the Sailor Scouts' battle with Queen Beryl really ended, by seeing the final two episodes in their entirety.Parents should be warned, however, that with the added scenes comes more suggestive dialogue and more violence, therefore this DVD box set is not recommended for young kids. (ADV's rating is Age 15+)If I am not mistaken, ADV will also be coming out with the second season of Sailor Moon, uncut. If ADV proceeds with this release, it will be to delight of many Sailor Moon fans. That release will only leave us with the final season, Sailor Stars. There is much discussion about the more intense content in Stars, so while the release of Sailor Moon's final season in the American market is still up in the air (and may be for a long time), be sure to get your hands on the first season of Sailor Moon, uncut, which is worth the high price and is a must for anyone's Sailor Moon collection.

In allegato un booklet con curiosità sulla serie, profili personaggi, descrizioni degli episodi con le censure più importanti, bozzetti dei character design dei personaggi.In questa serie le ragazze dovranno combattere contro i Death Busters, alla ricerca di tre potenti talismani che portano all’Holy Grail, il calice che può distruggere o salvare il mondo a seconda di chi lo utilizza.Vediamo il ritorno di Sailor Pluto e l’arrivo di altre due guerriere del sistema solare esterno, Sailor Uranus e Sailor Neptune. Intanto la piccola Chibiusa fa amicizia con una dolce ragazzina cagionevole di salute...Si può scegliere tra due versioni, italiana (doppiaggio storico Mediaset) o giapponese, sottotitoli in italiano. Purtroppo per chi lo voleva non è stato realizzato un ridoppiaggio italiano incensurato, perciò consiglio la visione originale con sottotitoli e ne sconsiglio assolutamente l’italiana Mediaset.Non è possibile avere un media con censure, nomi, canzoni e dialoghi stravolti e modificati a meno che non sia necessario per forza di causa maggiore, come per motivi linguistici. Questo purtroppo è un fenomeno sempre accaduto con gli anime in Italia (e non solo), soprattutto da parte di Mediaset, fenomeno ultimamente un po’ alleggerito per via delle proteste dei fan del genere.Mi rivolgo soprattutto ai nostalgici: seppur probabilmente siete affezionati alla SailorMoon amica SailorMoon di Cristina d’Avena o ai vari Rea, Morea, Diar.. err ^_^’... , cercate di andare oltre ai vostri attaccamenti ai ricordi e di conoscere com’è davvero questo (e magari altri) anime. Perché credetemi, se gli autori prendono determinate decisioni sulla scelta di nomi, canzoni, dialoghi e tutto il resto, c’è sempre un motivo e uno studio dietro. Non è bello e non ha senso che questo studio e impegno venga rovinato, no?Ultima nota: do 4 stelle in quanto una cosa non mi è andata giù, ossia i troppi errori grammaticali nei testi, sia nei sottotitoli sia nei booklet. Qualche svista ci sta, ma qua sembra non ci sia stata una corretta revisione.Avrebbero inoltre potuto inserire qualche extra video un po’ più succulento.Nel complesso è un acquisto che consiglio ai fan della serie.

L'anime di Sailor moon mi è sempre piaciuto moltissimo e sono contento di averlo acquistato in un'edizione ricca come questa.Il box contenitore è di cartone,quindi un pò delicato ma basta maneggiarlo con cura.All'interno ce n'è un altro che si apre in quattro parti,ognuna delle quali contiene un dvd.Graficamente è stupendo,con disegni bellissimi che raffigurano Sailor Uranus,Sailor Neptune,Chibiusa e Sailor Moon.C'è anche un booklet di 50 pagine,dettagliatissimo.Contiene la trama,l'analisi di ogni episodio con il titolo giapponese ed italiano,le "Sailor News",cioè curiosità sulla puntata e la descrizione di ogni singolo "Daimon" che compare.Inoltre ci sono le schede tecniche di Sailor Uranus e Neptune e quelle di Kaolinite(Katia)e Eugeal,con l'analisi del personaggio e il significato del nome giapponese.Infine ci sono gli schizzi preparatori dei disegni.E che dire della serie?Meravigliosa,la più dark,apocalittica e adulta.Compare il folle scienziato,il dottor Tomoe,alla ricerca dei talismani racchiusi nei cuori puri di esseri umani prescelti,per materializzare la "Coppa Lunare" che permetterà all'esercito del silenzio di dominare il mondo.Il box contiene la prima parte della serie,che introduce la trama con episodi autoconclusivi.Consigliatissimo per la storia spettacolare e l'edizione formidabile!

Questo cofanetto di 4 DVD contiene la prima parte della 3° stagione di Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon e il cristallo del cuore).Ci sono 2 versioni, quella integrale, con audio giapponese e sottotitoli in italiano e la versione TV, che equivale ad impostare l'audio in italiano (Mediaset) senza sottotitoli. Per passare da una versione all'altra, basta selezionare la spilla di Sailor Moon in basso a sinistra.In base alla versione selezionata cambiano anche i menu.La qualità audio e video è buona ed i menu sono ben fatti.Provando a seguire gli episodi con l'audio italiano ed i sottotitoli in italiano (basati sui dialoghi originali non censurati) si nota che almeno nei primi episodi non ci sono molte differenze. Forse la più fastidiosa è data dai nomi di personaggi secondari tipo Ursula o Camillo, che proprio stonano con tutto il contesto.Gli Extra sono poveri, inseriti solo nei primi DVD, che consistono nelle sigle, originali e Mediaset, con i sottotitoli. Il video della sigla Mediaset sembra di qualità scarsa, come se fosse stato registrato dalla TV. Avrebbero potuto mettere tanti altri contenuti come gallerie di immagini o musiche.In compenso, insieme ai DVD è presente un booklet "cartaceo" che contiene informazioni e curiosità su ogni singolo episodio e degli schizzi preparatori dei personaggi.Il cofanetto in cartoncino è ben fatto ma forse troppo leggero tanto che mi è arrivato con qualche ammaccatura. In realtà credo che il problema non sia il cofanetto ma piuttosto la scatola che utilizza Amazon per inviare questi prodotti, che a mio avviso è troppo leggera e si deforma facilmente senza proteggere il contenuto.Consigliato a tutti i fan delle Guerriere Sailor, per poter rivedere quella che a mio avviso è stata una delle migliori serie di Sailor Moon, insieme alla 5°.

Il box, semplice e ben realizzato contiene un interessante booklet e la versione integrale dell' anime Sailor Moon (così come per i precedenti box). Finalmente si ha la possibilità di vedere la serie in lingua originale giapponese con sottotitoli in italiano, a mio avviso molto più divertente e matura rispetto all'adattamento italiano.Unica pecca i contenuti speciali, pochi, ma comunque ben fatti.In ogni caso a quasi 20 anni dall'uscita di questo meraviglioso anime non potevamo pretendere di più!Attendo con ansia le restanti serie! Consigliato al 100%
