Basic part ok for beginner, Intermediate part is a let down
I have played guitar when I was a teenager; now, 30 years later, I picked up my guitar again and wanted to get a good refresher with the emphasis on solo guitar playing. Part one, the basic part, is in my opinion quite good for an absolute beginner. There are quite a few videos that you can watch, and the material is presented well. The songs are quite basic - mostly long forgotten folk type songs. There is a reference at the end of each section to OLGA, where you are assumed to get tabs for the songs they list; the caveat is that OLGA is off the air due to legal disputes. You can of course google the tabs, but in my opinion this comes down to over promising and not delivering (I thought the songs were included in the package). For me however, part one did not learn me new things. Then the Intermediate part (second box). What a disappointment. The videos are really very small (about 1/4 the size of the basic version); they are not bigger than the thumbnail image of the paper boxes containing the software on the Amazon page. There are also very few videos. Most of the songs are played via MIDI. The contents are mostly text; in a small window so not very comfortable to read and you can't print it. There is quite some theory - but the presentation is such a let down that I'm not sure I have the courage to go through it. I had expected also more emphasis on solo guitar playing. So in short: the basic part is ok-ish; the intermediate part is a let down. A shame that Peter Frampton endorses the eMedia method.

it turned out that for Windows 10 neither of the CDs was good to download the method
I requested this product as a Christmas present.Well, it turned out that for Windows 10 neither of the CDs was good to download the method.Tried to download on line but the product was not listed as named. After contacting (during business hours of course), the wonderful support service informed that this package was nothing more than the basic and the intermediate methods combined. Each had to be downloaded separately. Now the problem is that the serial number is provided just for the intermediate level, not the basic. When requesting the serial number on the basic, their response is that I have to provide a receipt. On a Christmas present!Still waiting.Hopefully this will assist other customers.

Good Starting Point for Guitar
Used to replace a 32 byte version that won't run on a newer computer. Good basic information. No, won't make you a guitar hero, you still have to practice diligently!

A lot of material
I've always wanted to learn guitar. I got this set because my son learned from an earlier version of Emedia and said a lot of good thinks about it. He went through both the 1st and 2nd level and this set has both at a better price. I am 1/2 way through the program and am already playing some songs. When I first got the guitar, I clearly didn't know what to do. My fingers all of a sudden felt like they didn't know how to move. Think of a baby learning to walk the first time. What I really like about the Email system is they make it easy with chords that are simple at first. As your fingers get stronger and start to crawl, they add in more difficult chords with more fingers. They ease you into in and make it more and more satisfying as you go. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Good
This method do not bring the two licenses in the package, so I had to contact e-media to get the other license. Its content is ok for the price.

Box Missing Installation Serial #
Very disappointed. I'm excited to re-learn guitar, and thought this method would be good. Opened the box and noticed that it's missing one of the serial numbers required to install the software. I'm waiting on eMedia to contact me back with the number... hope I didn't just waste my money.
