From the producers of The Orphanage, Pan's Labyrinth and A Monster Calls comes this thrilling story of a young family trying to survive after their mother's death. Hiding from the world in their crumbling house and with no other place to go they find a threatening presence is with them and has begun to haunt their sanctuary.

Surprising film
I was looking for something new and of an indie vibe. I read a few of the recent reviews and thought, why not? It fitted the bill perfectly. A largely unknown cast working well together, showing promising chemistry on screen. The story, I’ll admit, surprised me. I wasn’t expecting as suspenseful a drama as was depicted, I was thinking this was going to be a fairly straightforward, though decent, storyline. It hooked me from five minutes in, right to the ending and for once, no complaints about the bittersweet tone it took. What’s left to say, without giving anything away, but watch it. It won’t disappoint.

Really enjoyable film!
I watched this film start to finish, really kept me gripped throughout. kept me guessing about what would happen next or how things happened. a few plot twists which then made sense as the film went on. in a way, it was a happy but also sad film. just loved it overall!

Enjoyed it
I hate that a lot of shows are predictable, especially horror films. This one held a few twists that I didn't see coming, perhaps because I'd become quite engrosed in the plight of the children. The plot was a little bit preposterous but I don't regret watching it.

George Mackay - Can't take your eyes off of him
4 stars for the plot and story - 5 stars for George Mackay. I've been catching up on all the work he did before 1917, and it's obvious that he set a precedent in films like How I Live Now and Marrowbone, that he can carry a film and specialises in romantic leads, and a protective presence. He's absolutely riveting here. You may end up watching it twice, but can't tell you why, spoilers. The cinematography is brilliant, the use of entirely natural light, gives the film an eerie immediacy - but the light is wrong for it to be set in America. Imdb shows why - shot entirely in Spain.

Nicely Creepy
A well acted and written story about a young man desperate to keep his brothers and sisters in his care after their mother dies. Living in rural America - anxious that their violent father never finds them - the oldest son goes to great lengths to keep the promise he made to his mother and siblings on her death bed.But the peace he has struggled for is threatened when a local lawyer requires access to the mother to finalise the estate transfer. And the father has escaped from prison.Lots of twists and turns and some jump out your seat moments, this is an excellent story. Yes, it has horror elements but ultimately it is a story of family and the desire to keep loved ones safe. And yes, you will probably want to rewatch the last half hour.

unforgetable
I don't know what I was expecting when I began to watch this movie, but by the time I had finished it, I was in tears and very deeply moved. I have not been touched by a film in such a way for a long time and even 24 hours later , it still lingers with me. I do not want to say much about the plot because I do not want to give away this very clever and beautifully written story. I urge you not to read reviews that reveal the end, but instead watch this movie and watch the magic unfold on screen. The acting is outstanding, and the scenery beautiful. I wish there were more movies like this. I will admit I thought this was a horror movie and watched it accordingly, but boy was I wrong. Hauntingly beautiful.

Confusing until near the end.
Tediously slow to start: on the cusp of giving up but figured we had done half an hour might as well carry on. Thought it looked like a horror but in the end it was just a thriller with mostly no thrills. The preposterous notion the movie makes about being found is ridiculous. It then saunters along by jumping six months with no explanation. Then it seems to change its mind and start creating elements that are just plain daft. Yes, I'll admit in the last fifteen minutes they jump back to the time before they jumped six months on; if you get me?We then get fifteen minutes of daftness with nothing to jump at. It explains things which was useful and ends oddly. My one regret is we stuck with it.

Simply stunning - a fantastic film
I have a love of ghost stories and horror films, so I thought I'd give this one a go. What I hadn't expected to find was such a well made and engaging film - it draws you in and holds you, like all the best stories do. It is at turns beautiful and heart-warming, sinister and spooky and achingly tragic. It really does take you on a roller-coaster journey of emotion and suspense, and the ending caught me utterly off guard. If you like intelligent and well-made films that know how to use atmosphere well, then you need to watch this one. It's a cut above the rest.
