Vanishing Grace Bible Study Guide: Whatever Happened to the Good News?

I recommend this video and study guide. We all could give more Grace to ourselves and to others. Philip Yancey is using his God given gifts throughout his life and this study. Thank you Philip Yancey.

Well researched and presented study of a very timely nature. One of the best I have ever done.

I actually bought the DVD set and used it at Church in a small-group of mostly elderly Lutherans. They "enjoyed" the presentations by Yancey but it did not result in anything resembling a Great Awakening, or even a stirring....truth be told, in 9 years I haven't yet found anything that produces any zeal for outreach.Yancey's theology is good, though thoroughly Evangelical (I am Evangelical Catholic....OK, LCMS Lutheran) and he does a good job of stating the issues resulting in grace vanishing from the Church. His choice of spokespersons for each unit but Gave Lyons, were middle aged Boomers. SInce I am one of those I found it curious but they are actually good examples of each topic.

Our small group is not using the video or following the recommendations in this book. But some of the questions lead to interesting discussions.

I have the book and ths study guide. My church group is using it for a Bible study class. I have done this with his other book, "Grace" He does not disappoint..

A good study guide to go with the videos. The questions are somewhat repetitive and Yancey quotes himself.

Philip Yancey is my favorite author. He thinks through the blur of information out there and comes up with kernals of truth and food for thought. Vanishing Grace is a call to reach out to those who need a Savior and Lord without pre-judging the person. None of us are perfect, but we tend to think we can set the standards. Shame on us. Jesus came to save sinners from eternal seperation from God. Who are we to judge their worthiness. Great book. Great Study guide and DVD.

This is an outstanding book. It has generated wonderful discussions in our book group. Each chapter sparks questions and goals for our next week to try out in our daily living! Every Christian should read this book and do some soul searching about what kind of Christianity we show to the world! Lots of food for thought in this book.
