Rather confusing fill
The base of this lantern is opaque, but has instructions on the outside of the base that says do not fill past this line. How would you know if you cannot see inside the part of the canister that holds the oil???

Burns Nicely with a Warm Glow. Great Outdoor Lantern for Garden & Patio. Helps Keep Bugs Away.
Follow the instructions and don't overfill this beautiful blue lamps and they'll last a long time. I keep mine in the shed and while they've shown a little bit of rust and corrosion, they are just fantastic for placing around my garden and patio for summer outdoor parties. A high-quality Citronella lamp oil will burn just fine and clean in these, just remember to turn the wick down when you first light it as it will glow more when the wick heats up. Puts out a beautiful, soft light and it also keeps mosquitoes at bay. A really great addition to your outdoor picnic table, patio or garden.

For limited use
All of the lanterns arrived on schedule. All burner assemblies were loose. Fix was simple, press the tab on the lantern body down with a screwdriver or something similar, to close the gap a little. When the burners were re installed, they all fit snugly. These are made in China and are an OK reproduction. One of the four had some rust in the tank and on the filler plug. That particular one also had some light paint areas on the lantern body.We intended to use them on hangers out on the deck with citronella oil. I believe they will be ok for that. There is a warning about overfilling and the potential for leaking if overfilled, which may be easy to do even with the supplied tiny funnel. It is difficult to see the fuel level. For this reason (potential for leaks), I would not recommend using them inside the house, camper, and definitely not in a tent.

Great Lantern, But comes with very low quality wick !!!
I bought this for camping & power outages, This is a nice lantern, the globe is made of thick glass and it has a nice paint job. I like the lantern but when I put 9oz. of fuel in it and let it sit for 1/2 an hour so the wick could soak up the fuel I checked the wick to make sure it was saturated and it lit right up. The problem is that the original wick completely burned up within 1 hour. I have other lanterns and replaced the burned up piece of wick with a 10" piece of (Dietz) 1/2" wick and after letting the new wick soak for 1/2 an hour , again it lit right up and burned perfectly all night.Just make sure you order quality 1/2" wicks when you buy this lantern.

Not that great
Its not that great, but then, its very cheap (9$) and it will get the job done. The mechanism to push up the glass assembly does not push it up. You have to learn a minor ju-jitsu move to hold down the base while lifting the relatively flimsy glass assembly and simply use the lever to lock it into the up position. (Required for lighting). Its close to impossible to fill to the prescribed level accurately because the line simply is not visible from looking into the tank as you fill it, so you have to guess the depth. I constructed a dipstick out of a cedar shim to be able to get the correct level because only filling to the prescribed level does not allow a lot of kerosene in the reservoir. If you overfill it leaks kero all over the place over a pretty long period of time so you can't overfill. 1/2 inch wick. I give it a 2 rating compared to being a high quality durable device. I give it a 4, 4.5 rating in terms of being a very low cost tool that you can get to do the job if you handle it with some care. If you are careful with it then it could last indefinitely. Try to lever up the globe assembly with the lever and you probably bend/maybe break it the first time.

Does exactly what its supposed to!
This is your typical kerosene lamp lantern. It gives off the light of the flame and you can ajust the wick to how large you want the flame. If you're looking for a lot of light you want to stick to the expensive coleman lanterns with mantles. I camp a lot and i use these lanterns the majority of the time for my light they do exactly what they're supposed to! and they're the right price! Tip: if you want to use the lantern while walking or just to direct light in one direction wrap tin foil, reflexive side in, on one half of the lantern. This will reflex the light in one direction or out in front of you and not in your eyes while walking.

Works great until....
I've used this off for over a year and it works good UNTIL the wick is used up. Because you Must buy the specific L05 wick which appears to be 1/2 inch but is really about a 1/16 smaller. So I thought I was smart and bought a big roll of 1/2 inch roll of wick to use in all my lanterns but it won't fit in this Lantern!! Ticks me off.Generic 1/2 inch wick will not work.

Don't waste your money.
Non functional and not repairable. The wick could not be raised or lowered. Very cheap. Quality control is not one of their concerns. Went to recycle can. You get what you pay for. Spend a few dollars extra and get something you can actually use.

You get what you pay for
The item looks pretty but on close inspection there are issues: Where is the brass trim? The lamp is made of rather thin metal and there are small dents all over the tank. Looking inside the tank I cannot rule out spots of rust. On the positive side the lamp works as advertised. I filled it and lit it without any difficulties, it is also easy to extinguish. I left some oil in it to protect it against any further rust while in storage (this is an item for emergency use only). I have not tried replacing the wick. If there are issues with that as well I will update.

Looks nice.
Looks the same as the deitz but really isnt. Paint chipped right away. The spring doesn't work well and requires 2 hands to lift the lid so it doesn't fall apart when lighting. After a few weeks it ended up leaking everywhere.

Works as it should.
Great classic oil lamp. Not just decor. Bought this for winter camping in sub zero temps. It worked very well. Full tank of lamp oil lasted all night and into the morning.Came quickly and ready to go out of the box, just add your own oil.
