I’ve been very impressed with Dogtra’s quality and reliability. The build quality feels premium, the remote is intuitive, and the response is consistent. The range and battery life have been excellent, making training much more efficient and predictable. What I appreciate most is that Dogtra focuses on clear communication with the dog rather than harsh corrections. When used properly as part of a structured training program, it’s an effective tool that helps reinforce commands and improve reliability. I’ve had a few training collars over the years with my past dogs. This is by far the best, they’ve thought of everything and it shows. Excellent quality! However if I could make one minor change, it would be to put the belt clip on some type of spring system. It is very very difficult to get on the belt, it’s much to tight. But that’s the ONLY negative about it. I love this E-Collar!

Works great. Huge step up from the less expensive types available here. She plays in the pool and creek with no negative effects on the collar.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I want to warn others about this! First off, the “black edition” is kind of a lie. I’ve only had this for a month and the black paint on the device has already come nearly all off. Not the end of the world, but if I spend more money for a certain color, I’d like for the product to be that color. Now for the warning: the prongs that come on the collar are long, which might work well for a longer haired dog, but I have a Great Dane. Since my dog has short hair, the prongs absolutely tore his skin up. And by that I mean he has scars now from a staph infection he got from the cuts and rash it gave him. It took two rounds of antibiotics for it to go away. Was not a fun time for either of us. To give the benefit of the doubt, I am now trying the comfort pad prongs (you have to buy them separately) to see if this will work better and not give him issues bc other than the literal staph infection it gave my dog, it’s actually a good ecollar functionality wise. It has great functions and features that work well for the both of us for his training. To wrap up this review: if you have a short haired dog, PLEASE be careful with this and go ahead and buy the comfort pad prongs in advance, so hopefully you can save your dog (and your wallet) from a staph infection.

I have a 10-year-old Newfoundland who was professionally trained, and our trainer recommended the Dogtra brand years ago. As my first dog, I was especially concerned about ensuring reliable boundary awareness and obedience. This system proved to be an excellent solution. At the time, my HOA did not allow fencing, so I needed a dependable way to maintain clear boundaries, and it worked extremely well (which obviously is dependent on effective owner training and compliance as well). I appreciate the precise, incremental level adjustments, as well as the range of sensory options (sound, vibration, visual cues, etc.). In my experience, having multiple, gradated ways to engage a dog’s sensory system leads to more effective and humane training. For context, I am a doctoral-level behaviorist working with humans, and I value tools that prioritize clarity, consistency, and flexibility in behavioral learning. 😊

Okay this collar is hood for 3 dogs. I have one. Make sure the toggle is in the right place. Dogtea customer service is excellent!

Works well; perfect for our 92lb Bernese Mountain Dog.

Overall, an excellent product. I have a high drive German shepherd puppy and his training is exponentially better with this if used correctly. You cannot just nick a dog if they don’t know what you’re asking. Also has vibrate. I needed longer probes as my dog has a ton of hair and they o ly come with one set of probes. They weren’t touching his skin because of his hair. I needed to order longer ones from Dogtra. Also, Amazon’s warranty runs out fast and then you must deal with Dogtra directly. The problem with this e-collar is that it says it’s waterproof. My pup went swimming and we noticed it wasn’t working. My husband bought a new battery and when he opened it it had water inside. I’m not sure if this is a one time thing or they’re all that way. I needed longer it to be waterproof and so I’m dealing with Dogtra which is a pain.
