Easily strims though long wet grass and nettles
Tried this out on long wet grass and nettles and it cut through it no problem. Good solid product. Set up was easy.

Easy strimming
Good, strong strimming of brambles and lesser weeds. As it is on wheels there is no stress on the back, and easy to move about. Four-stroke Briggs and Stratton easy start motor; first pull on the starter cable , and it was away, very pleased. There is no facility for attaching sharp blades which could be an advantage for heavier undergrowth, the only issue that stops a five-star rating.

Power
I have an area of land that managed to get out of control last year and the ride-on would struggle to deal with it. I bought this in the hope I could cut back a bit to give the ride-on a chance. The machine came quickly and was pretty much fully assembled when it arrived (other than a handle adjustment). The machine started first time and was ready to use in minutes. It has raw power. It tears through undergrowth. It is also very efficient - despite a small petrol tank it runs for ages. The wheels are not powered so it can be hard work to push, but its ability to chew through overgrown areas makes this a great purchase. Highly recommended for large overgrown areas.

Powerful machine!
We have been using the McCulloch MWT420 to clear coarse grass and light scrub from a butterfly site - job done, quickly and to a high standard. My only gripe with this machine is the VERY high price for replacement trimmer line - £17-00 for a single line!

Strimmer for the bigger jobs
Several manufacturers have put their name to this design but the machines are essentially the same. They work on the principle of an engine driven strimming head while you push the machine on its relatively large wheels. The wheels are not driven but the machine Is very manoeuvrable nevertheless. The strimming head uses nylon cable; I use 3.5mm diameter cable but, if it can take a thicker cable, all the better since they will wear/break quickly in scrub. The strimming head and cable gives quite a large diameter of cut so you can do a lot of work in a short time. It will cut grass but there is a problem with it clogging up as the grass, especially when thick and damp, winds around the strimmer shaft and requires pliers/knife to remove. Best time to strim scrub (brambles, nettles etc) is in the winter when the leaves have disappeared or died and the stalks are dry and brittle. In these conditions this machine will do a huge amount of work effortlessly. I wouldn't really recommend this machine for small/town gardens but for large gardens, orchards etc. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Excellent
I would recomend this to everyone. It is far superior to the one it is replacing, which was one of the first of these wheeled strimmers on the market. This is sturdy, compact and does the job, which is some job.....3 acres.

Slaughters weeds and tussock grass!
This is strimmer well up to the job of clearing scutch grass, tussocks and weeds from a rough site without difficulty. The machine is solid and the strimmer line supplied is excellent (Flymo part no 532 18 22-19).There are two things to know about it, though - it is heavy to push (for a female!) as the engine drives the strimmer only and not the wheels and there is a warning in the handbook that it should not be used on slopes greater than 15 degrees, as there may be damage to the engine.
