Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500 Watt 80 PLUS BRONZE Power Supply

My original power supply (550 watt NeoPower) was supplied with the Antec Sonata Plus 550 tower case to house my A-bit IP-35 motherboard build. This is a very quiet case with it's noise shield panels but after 27-months of operation, the power supply failed. All of the proper voltages were present but there was no "good-to-go" signal on pin 8. None of the electrolytic capacitors were bulging or venting so the failure most likely is due to failure of the monitoring circuit. With no 5 volt signal on pin 8, the motherboard then shuts down the CPU to protect it and the machine will not boot and you can not enter the BIOS.I selected the EA500-D as a logical replacement because of it's green characteristics, v2.3 compliance, and cabling that is compatible with my IP35 motherboard. My tower case is not fully loaded so going from a 550 watt supply to 500 watt is of no consequence.

Not usable for ATX mother board. Returned. MB connector is the wrong size for my board.

This power supply is perfect for any HTPC. For the last 3.5 years I have been using a noisy BFG 700w in my HTPC - total overkill. I upgraded my personal pc with a big AMD 6870 which required a bigger power supply. I figured I'd go with a quiet, green psu and swap my HTPC since I was not using 2/3 of the power available. WOW, what a difference. I can barely hear the psu when the house is quiet and never when I'm watching tv. The psu costs a little more than others with similar available watts, but the low dB is what sells it for me. Do yourself a favor and "buy the best and only cry once," a mantra I live my life by.

I purchased this to replace an ANTEC 450 power supply. I was looking for a close match since ANTEC also made my Sonata II PC case that holds this power supply.I made the replacement and it worked out fine.

Old power supply has been increasingly cantankerous by shutting down and restarting the system on it's own at extremely inopportune times. When I took it out, determined that it was not actually high enough on wattage to adequately power everything in the system. After installing this new one, everything changed for the better; Power downs stopped, and the system actually now runs quieter and responds faster to everything. I believe this is due to the old power supply starving the CPU. Am extremely happy now and wish I had done this sooner. Kudos to Amazon for the great price and free and fast shipping.

The product was dead on arrival, a search of newegg showed that this was more common than it should be. Ended up going with the Corsair 650W unit instead.

This power supply is working well and is quiet.The 20+4 connecter is meshed but the rest aren't. The connectors are long enough for my Cooler Master Scout and has a good amount of satas. IT has a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin for graphics cards and two p4 connectors for overclockers.Lastly. I's green. How many power supplys are green?

But i discovered the cause of failure before receiving the power supply. I repair my old one and restart my computer. Now i have a spare tested in stock, for my old computing.

Seems to be OK - no probs so far. It remains to be seen how reliable the unit is over time.
