I really like this!
I loved this kit!! I got it on Prime day at a great price. It arrived quickly in pristine condition with no packing issues. The bits themselves are terrific, adorable, and such a good idea!! The instructions for the different builds were pretty understandable overall, even to someone who literally knows nothing about it!! The ideas are clever, engaging, and fun! I as a kid personally would have loved this. The only problems I had with this kit were the coding activities and the download itself. I didn't see any guide for the coding, and even though I was able to figure it out, someone completely unfamiliar, even a kid, might have trouble. The coding activities are a separate and ancillary part of the product, though, so you can complete the kit just fine without the coding if it's problematic. The coding adds extra dimension to already interesting activities, though, so it's definitely worth figuring out.The download, as other people have noted, was somewhat problematic. You really need at least 4G on your phone to be able to download it properly. Even after you download the app, you still need to download the actual guidebook -- this product takes a fair amount of memory. Once I finally installed all of it, it performed just fine. When I went back at the end to further experiment with the coding, however, it wouldn't let me and kept shutting down. It wasn't a question of chronological order, either. I have reinstalled the app and will see if that helps.Overall, I loved this kit and think it IS VERY giftable!!! I loved the technology and the activities. If the download is problematic, though, a kid is going to be REALLY disappointed. Maybe including more actual printed material with the kit and supplementing online would help -- they could still do a lot of the activities with the components while technical issues are being straightened out.Yes, there were some minor glitches like needing to reconnect a component, but none of it was a big deal. Overall, I really liked this product!! Great job, Little Bits!!!

Good product, kid friendly….however
Gift for my 10 yr old grand daughter. Was easy to build and works well. However, the product wants you to connect with a specific app for a bigger variety of sounds and lights. That app doesn’t exist any more. Still works well, just wish we could access the suggested app.

STEM Activities Plus Real Play Value
Our household is no stranger to little bits, and this kit is one of their favorites. In truth, this is one of my favorites too.For starters, I thought the Iron Man arm on the box was just an illustration, and was surprised to find it inside the box (it serves as a stand for the gauntlet when the kid is not wearing it). Whenever I look at this thing I think "that's so cool". Unlike other Little Bits toys, which had a more Lego-like snap together construction, this kit was designed for active play, and after a week has held up well even with an enthusiastic 4 year old in the house. The core toy is a disk with a multi color LED display with a bluetooth connection that lets you program different colors, and even text. The disk has 45 LEDs that you can program individually in about 25 different colors. That's pretty awesome compared to my childhood when all we got were green foam hulk hands. There are other bits that up the interaction factor, including an accelerometer that changes the LED design as it moves and a light sensor that yields a similar effect. There's another sensor that makes superhero sounds. There's a special app just for this kit that walks through (in superhero fashion) the various activities and contains the bluetooth controls. I have found for my older 9 year son that the app is key to getting the most out of the kit. The Little Bits kits are relatively expensive, but for me the big selling point are the apps. On the other hand, my 4 year old was perfectly happy just getting to wear the finished product, running around with the lights and sound effects blazing.

Quality Gender-Neutral STEM / Coding Toy that Teaches
This is much more than just a "toy". These modular snap-together electronic circuits, referred to as "Bits", are compatible with any of their other kits - allowing for an endless number of invention opportunities. You don't have to be an Avengers fan to have fun with the kit either. Pro tip - scribble out the age grade and I bet tweens would enjoy this just as much as 6-8 year olds.Beautiful and intuitive build instructions are available for new users via the littleBits Avenger Hero Inventor App. Once you or your kid are comfortable with how the system works, you can just use the app for coding purposes. The Bits are magnetic, making assembly super easy. Fun activities for parents and kids to engage in playtime together, though parental assistance is not required for success - unlike many of the other comparative STEM toys.Fun use of colors and including the name on each of the Bits was such a good idea! If you get stuck, check out the littleBits Forum, where members of the community post and share invention ideas, tips and tricks frequently. In app help documentation isn't the best, but if you call or email the company they have a grade A approach to customer service. Something that can be rare to find these days in the toy business, and yet greatly appreciated during the holidays. If you have a kid between the ages of 5 and 14 - this kit should be under your tree! Highly recommend!

Great concept but could have been better.
I think I enjoyed playing with this more than my kids did. The actual "bits" are nicely done, seem durable (as durable as such things can be) enough to withstand standard rough handling from kids and are super easy to chain together and experiment with. I really like the littleBits "system" but this kit contains too much fluff and not enough variety in my opinion.First issue I have is the gauntlet which all of the activities are centred around. It's difficult to manipulate, to the point where everybody (especially the kids) kind of just didn't bother doing all of the steps that were asked of them for each activity requiring removing the top plate, fitting the bits into the slots and moving the difficult to move sliders around all while hoping nobody pinches any of the wires and cuts them. You spend more time fiddling with putting things in and taking them out of the gauntlet than actually experimenting with the bits.Second issue I have is that the iron man hand "stand" is pretty much entirely superfluous and just seems like a waste. I get that it's for "displaying" your gauntlet but it just takes too much effort again to take the gauntlet on and off the thing that we just gave up and they're sitting on the kids dressers/desks as a decoration until the next toy purge at which point they'll likely get chucked because they really don't provide any play value. Those two things combined take up the bulk of the impressively large box and too little of the box is filled with bits. The last thing I think would have been a big improvement was the fact that the package doesn't contain any meaningful printed instructions. A little activity book with experiments and explanations that your kid could use by themselves offline without an app would have been welcome. As it stands everything is tied to the app, and of course the only devices in the house that actually work with the app and connect to the bits are either my wifes or my phones. The app itself is pretty much fine, but it's too on rails. It's difficult to use it with the bluetooth bit for simple experimentation, the only way I've found to connect and manipulate the bits with the app is to go through a specific activity there is no simple experiment mode to get access to doing things outside of specific gauntlet related tasks.I suggest that you invest in a shallow tackle box to keep all the bits in as I did, and grow your collection to include more bits so that more experimentation and combinations can be made. Hopefully littlebits provides a better app to simply play around with things in a non-guided way in the future.
