Monkey Wrench 14"

super high quality tool. This is my favorite adjustable wrench that I have. Which is saying a lot, because I have tons of crescent wrenches. I bought the smaller version of this wrench also, just because I liked this one so much. I use it for almost every steam piping job. You can open the mouth of the wrench much wider than a standard adjustable (crescent) wrench. It is perfect for tightening/loosening stuck pipe unions. A must have for any tool bench.

The first bolt that I tried to remove with this resulted in marred jaws, a bent frame, and warped pinion teeth so the jaws no longer close. As a bonus, it rounded the bolt's corners when the frame bent and let the jaws spread a bit. The bolt was not rusty or seized, but it was large (2") and spec'd to be tightened to 800 ft-lb. I ended up removing it with a similarly sized pipe wrench without issue (except the teeth gouging the bolt, which is what I bought this wrench to avoid). It feels solid and heavy, so I wasn't expecting it to bend in what should have been strong spots (the thin threads of the worm gear are unharmed while the frame bent along the 1.25" thick direction. I guess it was just cheap steel.

Made in China.I was Disappointed when it showed up and I saw that it was made in china for this price and from this brand.It is good build quality and that is why I give it two stars but I do not know how it will last due to the lack of of QC of Chinese steel.I Would recommend a Rigid made in USA Over this.
