Excellent starter drone for an excellent price!
Pro:It works right out of the box. The drone calibrates itself on a level surface, the controller has a calibration method that is a breeze (I required just a slight trim). Controller also has Mode 1 and 2, which allows for a comfortable flying experience regardless of background (gaming or RC flying) and the controls seem pretty precise (with a minor dead zone in the left stick - used for rotating drone yaw, this is likely to make it easier for beginners, which it does).Incredibly small and lightweight. This makes it hard to break and less likely to hurt someone if you crash into them. With battery and prop guard (which is hidden under the packaging), it comes to just 50g. I've bent several propellers, but this doesn't seem to affect flight at all so far - plus it comes with 4 extra in case I manage to break some. I would also say this is probably the biggest drone I would comfortably fly inside - with its beginner mode, it's plenty fast for maneuvering without being out of control. Outside, I stick to expert mode, which allows for nearly 30mph flight and a much more aggressive flight profile (if you don't push thrust all the way up while pitching completely forward in expert mode, you'll likely go into the ground).Good flight time. I get about 6-8 minutes outside on expert mode, I've used the battery almost every hour since I got the drone and it's been a champ. With bigger drones you might get slightly more flight time, but this is definitely respectable and plenty of time for racing around. It takes about 45 minutes to charge the battery after use, which I also find reasonable.Price. I don't see how you'd beat the price (I paid $33, it's $30 at the moment). For the performance and control, it's a no brainer for a starter drone or just an excellent gift.Cons:The camera leaves a bit to be desired. The sharpness is great for its low resolution, however the rolling shutter and angle on the drone make it just a novelty (which is still pretty cool). I took a few videos, and will likely not take any more. The camera does auto-brightness, so it is always relatively easy to see what it is recording, however given the angle it tends to point towards the ground while flying forward. Also, because the lens is relatively narrow, it's hard to see what is going on. I don't think the higher resolution camera would help, though I haven't tested personally - if the angle of the camera on that drone is the same and if it still uses a rolling shutter, I'd skip it. In the end, it probably exceeds what I'd expect for the price point, and it is very easy to use (just press the record button to start/stop), however a few small tweaks would definitely make it better.Flips. This drone can definitely do them, but it struggles to maintain height and sometimes it seems the PID for the gyro gets confused after a flip (resulting in a crash/acceleration straight towards the ground). Personally, I also find this to be a novel feature - it's great to show off a flip or two to someone who hasn't seen it yet, but I just turn off flip mode if I am flying by myself - and just focus on flying around. I'm glad this can be disabled for normal/expert flying, as it's not something I need regularly.A final issue - with higher end drones, when you throttle down, the blades continue to spin - this allows them to drop while maintaining a level descent. The H107C completely stops the props, which will let the drone tumble while falling. Given the relatively simple controller, this makes sense (it also means it's easier to turn the props off if you crash), however it is something to note as you try to fly/drop quickly - just make sure to keep a little throttle on to keep it level.Bonus:I was forced to crash into a pool (vs hitting a child who ran at it) and it sank 10ft under water. I quickly swam down, grabbed it, disconnected the battery and tried to remove as much water as possible (I had it out of the water about 30s after it submerged). As soon as I could, I grabbed a leafblower and did my best to remove all water (I don't have a thin enough screw driver, so I couldn't disassemble to do this - I just took the battery out, so I could get airflow inside) and did a final wipe down with a paper towel. I stuck a silica gel packet in the battery slot, placed it in a ziplock and let it sit for 12 hours. It still works! Connected again no problem and flies with the same flight time as before. I was able to completely throttle down before hitting the water, and given the coreless motors don't have ESCs and the entire drone is low voltage, nothing blew when it hit the water. I'm very impressed, and have already recommended the drone to others - this is just icing on the cake. I'm not sure if the board has been proofed at all or if I was purely lucky (and I don't plan on testing it).Final thoughts: perfect starter drone, excellent controls, tons of fun. The guide LEDs are bright and make flying inside or out a breeze. It is fast and nimble and the best $33 I've spent in a while. Even if crashing in the water had killed it, I'd pick up another.

Not really for beginners
Three stars is a bit of a stretch. I bought this based on a review that said it was a great drone for a beginner. I guess that's true, they just need to be a better beginner than me.Pros: 1) price. If you are a beginner don't drop a bundle on a high priced drone until you learn to fly. You'll just crash it or loose it.2) It's a tough little bird. Crashing it often breaks the props but otherwise no harm. Make sure you have spare props.3) It's feisty, very agile. This turns out to be both a pro and a con depending on your experience level. In my case it's a con.Cons:1) Camera does not work.2) The battery slips into an opening with nothing to keep it from falling out as it sometimes does in a crash.3) Hover is difficult to achieve and maintain.4) Trim commands on the transmitter have a delay. Try to hover and it drifts off in one direction, enter a trim command to correct it and lose control before the command takes effect.5) Props press on and pull off. After each crash, press on each prop to make sure it is still firmly seated and the battery is still in place. This little bird is probably better suited to more experienced pilots.

Surprisingly awesome!
I purchased this for my son's 8th birthday. I would not recommend it for that age though. I knew going in to the purchase that I would have to spend time learning how to fly this myself and then spend several sessions teaching him how to fly it.What's in the box? The copter, removable rechargeable battery, charger, controller, extra props and a LED lights, AND hidden underneath the packaging is the prop guard! I missed this and ended up ordering one before I found it. I also ordered a crash kit with extra props and an extra battery. How to fly: Out of the box, I couldn't figure it out, even with reading the instructions. I went to YouTube and watched several tutorial videos by other customers until I got it right. I think the MOST helpful thing, that I got from the videos is that the LEFT stick is the throttle and also turns the copter. The throttle needs to be center and down when you turn on the controller. The other stick, which controls left, right, forward, backward, needs to be in the center when the remote is turned on. There is a procedure to "zero" or "align" the controller, which should be followed prior to flight. I realize saying these things might make me look dumb, but knowing them will help you learn to fly this if it is your first drone.Flight! Once I got over those stumbling blocks, flying the hubsan is really fun and relatively easy! Maneuvering is relatively easy and I picked it up pretty quickly. I gave my son several lessons, and he can fly it now by himself, but still with my supervision. He has the controls down, but we are still working on flying responsibly, ie not getting too close to roofs or trees, or not flying too high. He doesn't have precise control down yet, but he can get the job done.Drone! You record video with this using a microSD card. One thing to note is that you need to press a button on the side of the hubsan (small black button on left side near SD slot). When video starts a small red light blinks. Remember to turn the video off BEFORE disconnecting power to the hubsan or the video will be lost! Video quality is low, and a little jumpy, but I think it is good for an entry level drone.Watch out! On my son's second lesson, he flew high, and it was windy. The wind carried the hubsan into the trees and then he panicked and throttled down. The hubs an fell down through the trees, hitting branches and then got lost in the leaves. It is very small, only 4 or 5 inches across. We looked for about an hour before we found it. However, to our surprise, after turning power off and on and reconnecting the remote, it worked fine!!! Lesson learned from that: fly cautiously in high wind (it was really windy that day, so it was really my fault for trying to teach him to fly on a windy day), if there is a "loss", don't turn off the remote! My son turned off the remote, that disconnected the hubsan from the remote, and you can't reconnect until you cycle power on the hubsan. It would have been much easier to find if we would have been able to throttle up and hear the props, or possibly fly out of the leaves. I also learned that the hubsan is very sturdy. After that huge crash it still worked great! After hard landings the body partially snaps away from the legs to absorb more shock. This is by design and when it happens just snap the legs back to the body. All in all this is a great product! If you want better video, get the HD version. If your buying for a young in, be prepared to teach. I wish you fun flying!

Gran producto

Great fun to fly.-the BEST
A joy to fly, and so tough and powerful.Probably not the best for beginners but is a very high quality construction. Provide lot of fun.(edit)-after owning this for as long as I have and experimenting with quite a few diff size and type of quad drones , I must say the Hubsan X4 is the most responsive and easiest to control and handles the wind very well , probly due to the weight to power ratio and the aerodynamic styling. Also the durability of the protective piece and the props are so available affordable so youcan get lots without going broke , and you will need many to keep you flying. I have a large H8 , I have cheerson 10 and skyfighter which is close to a hubsan in performance , and I really must stress this model is the most fun and durable even long lasting 500mah batteries, i must have gotten about 12 -15 min out of one session the other day, I kept being amazed at how lont I was flying it , The person with me was telling me how may monutes and It was over 10 for sure, not a regular occurance but did happen. howmany times can I say it , The Hubsan 4x is the most fun and durable controllable and on and on

GREAT PURCHASE, RELIABLE AND DURABLE WITH A GREAT CAMERA.
This little quadcopter is a superb purchase at a low cost.It is robust and can take a fall from height. Be sure to fit the propeller guard because this is not a toy and can cause damage, certainly not for a kid. the controls take a bit of getting used to but once you accomplish that you will have many hours of fun. A small negative is the battery does not last long but for the price this should not affect your decision. The camera is superb and way better than I thought it would be. Please do not let people with negative feedback put you off this great item, WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
