Lenox 843318 Holiday Gravy Boat and Stand, Christmas Hosting

This is my second time ordering Lenox Holiday. My first was destroyed with my home in a wildfire. I purchased all my pieces all over the USA where Lenox stores had them (I worked and traveled for my job) and I brought them via airplane, etc., with no breakage, moved several times and still no breakage. Now ordering from Amazon (and Lenox website) to compete my set once again. However, this is my 3rd order from Amazon with significant breakage. The box is simply put inside another box, no protection and can move about as the box is tossed or otherwise in shipment. The Mug was chipped, the place setting bowls all 4 of them were in hundreds of pieces, and now the Plate to the Gravy boat was broken into lots of pieces. So, order early as unforeseen things happen and there is breakage in shipping. I just wish they would place more packaging around the Lenox boxes. But that aside, this is a gorgeous porcelain set you can have and use each year and really enjoy. They add unusual pieces to it each year and retire them so you can build a beautiful Christmas dishware set to be proud of and anxious to use each year. I got the goblets and wine glasses as well as some of the linens that go along with or coordinate with this set. You cannot go wrong, just order early. Amazon will replace your broken items, but just plan ahead. I received some where the beautiful red boxes that packaged them from Amazon were all beat up. but it did not make the items inside any less beautiful. I keep my boxes and store all the items in those boxes for the next year. Although they take up more room, they are stil better protected. I love this set, and most things Lenox makes. I bought this for our daughter to help her celebrate hosting her first Thanksgiving family dinner in her new house. When we went there for Thanksgiving dinner, this gravy boat, along with the Lenox matching platter, were on the table. They looked wonderful in that setting.I had no idea how large and heavy this gravy boat was. When I bought it I never really thought about the size or weight, and it looked to be like any other gravy boat that we have. It's heavy due to the thick (sturdy and strong) ceramic. But it holds19 oz, almost 2.5 cups while our other gravy boats are between 8 and 12 oz. Factor in the weight of the gravy boat itself and, when even half full, this will require an adult to pour; most kids would not be able to pick it up without spilling some gravy (hopefully not on themselves).Putting aside the size and weight, this is a very pretty and appropriately Thanksgiving or Christmas themed gravy boat and, especially when paired with some of the Lenox matching pieces, will brighten up any holiday table.Recommended, but make sure the kids don't try to use it themselves, it's an adult gravy boat. :)

I wasn't certain, at the very good price, whether this was a good quality piece - a second - or what! When I received it I inspected it thoroughly. This is an excellent piece. Very nice, looks elegant, no flaws and a great piece to add to my Lenox Holiday set. I'm not a huge gravy fan, but my family is and now I have a beautiful serving piece to serve their gravy in.

My "Holiday" dishes get pulled out before Thanksgiving some years. Who uses china? ..... well, we do, even if it is for peanut butter and jelly. My son thinks the "special" dishes are fun - my husband tolerates the festivities ;). Very Nice to add this serving piece at deal price -- used it for warm syrup too.

Gravy boat came today. Wife and I both love it. Plate was shattered though. Sigh

This was a good deal on Warehouse Deals (20.00). It came in the original box and was well wrapped. The platter was under a piece of cardboard under the gravy boat so at first I thought I only ordered the gravy boat. I was glad to see both pieces came as a set and at 20.00 that is a steal. It matches the Lenox Holiday china perfectly.
