PERFECT
This is amazing. Double-use for us, as my oldest's door doesn't quite close all the way in the colder months here in Arizona, so this also keeps it from opening on its own...we've tried everything, and it wasn't really too much of a problem until his little baby brother became mobile; he's push the door open from the moment he learned to scoot down the hallway on his belly. The dogs would get in there too, but they learned much quicker than our baby has that brother's room is off-limits. My older son is 13 so there are things in there, within baby's reach, that baby needs to stay away from--small legos, pens and pencils, cords to Xbox, trash can with soda cans in it, all sorts of things that my oldest might not always be minded enough to put away--he can't even remember to close the door half the time, whether it latches completely or not! Well! I saw this and I thought, how genius. It's not permanent at all. No damage to the door or the jamb, not the wall. It's so simple and so effective. I'd love if the price were a little lower--seems kind of pricey for a couple of pieces of plastic, but it's SO THOUGHTFUL that it's worth it--it's not 'expensive,' it's just...you know...a piece of plastic that literally costs $16, seems like a bit much. But then you attach it and suddenly you can quit running to the hallway every time baby goes down it, and you're more so paying for that sigh of relief, anyway. I love that you can decide how low or high to put it, that it's removable at any time without any damage or tools, that it's easy to use, etc. I literally can't find a single fault in this. And I'm not kidding when I say that it's GENIUS. I was sitting here wondering if I needed to tie something around the damn doorknob and...wait, how would my son get out...etc, lol. I could imagine this wouldn't work for all doors, you'd have to have the right 'width' of a door. But for us, it worked out great! $16 little dollars well spent :)

Easy to install and open/close door- very safe!
Soo easy to install - just pop on and easily pop off. As long as you put it high enough for toddler not to reach, it’s super effective and also easy to open and close (even in the dark, from both sides of the door). I used it when visiting family since my toddler often wakes before me and likes to explore. Our family members house isn’t baby proofed and my kiddo is notorious for climbing over baby gates and I was worried about the stairs. This worked wonders, as the door doesn’t completely close so he didn’t feel “locked in” when he would accidentally close it during the day but kept him protected at night without me stressing about waking up when he did. We slept in the same room so it made it easier and safer when I would get up to use the restroom and was easy for me to use in the dark. It’s my new go-to for traveling! I love that it keeps the door open about 2 inches but doesn’t allow it to open any further. I think we are going to get them for the rooms in the house we don’t want our dogs or toddler in so that the doors don’t have to stay shut (better airflow). I love that these don’t have to be permanently attached like many other door mechanisms and take 30 seconds to read the installation instructions and 5 seconds to install. Well worth it for piece of mind knowing my kiddo was safe while we slept and whenever I got up in the night.

Very smart product!
I haven't had this long, but I'm very impressed with it so far. A lot has already been written about this product, so I'll focus on some points that haven't really been said...YES, THE PRICE SEEMS HIGHIt's true that the cost is higher than what you would expect. I was at first hesitant ordering it for that reason. But nothing else was working so I decided to give it a try. I'm actually ok with the cost now. Not only is it a good product, but if you go to the Door Monkey website you'll find that a dad invented this product to solve a problem he was having. It's just a little mom and pop company. I'm sure that they've had to invest a lot of personal money into this, take risks, and don't get the manufacturing deals that big companies do. It's nice to support the little guy. Besides, it's a lot cheaper to buy one thing that works rather than a bunch of junk that doesn't.LOTS OF OTHER SOLUTIONS DON'T WORK FOR EVERYONEFirst we tried the knob cover. My daughter figured out how to open it in a day and the next day she busted the cover right off the knob. My huband decided to get smart and take the knob off one day and guess who ended up getting locked in....ME! This product actually works, is very secure, and an adult or older child can open the door from both sides. No lock-ins.YES, THE DOOR STAYS CRACKED OPENThere is a good sized gap when you use this. I'd prefer it to not be there, but it's really no big deal for me. It's on my daughter's bedroom. She still slept fine with the door cracked. If you use it on a bathroom it takes two seconds to remove and put back. You have to think about how it works though. It basically clamps to the door and an arm grabs onto the doorframe when you close it. Because it clamps, that clamp keeps the door slightly ajar. If you had another kind of lock you'd probably have to tape or drill into your door or frame. This product doesn't leave any damage and you can move it around to different doors or take it to grandma's house for the weekend. This design also allows you to open it from both sides. You don't want to do something stupid and get locked in like I did. For the benefits of the design, I'll deal with the crack.UNIQUEI don't know of another device like this...opens from both sides, portable, works on most doors, and my child can't get through it. I'll update my review if she finds a way, but I don't think that will happen.GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICEI did email the company with a few questions. They were very nice, helpful, and quick to respond. If you have a funky door you might want to contact them or at least read more info on their website before ordering. They have solutions for funky doors, which I didn't look into because my doors are the standard kind.WATCH THIS VIDEOOne last thing....there's a video on youtube that demonstrates how the product works. It wasn't put up by the owners, it's just something a consumer did. The video is titled "Door Monkey" and was posted by justnik78. Watch it and you'll know exactly what you're getting.
