good countersync option but prefer the dewalt
I have been using the dewalt countersink for several years now. The dewalt bit can get clogged and then gets super hot and eventually breaks. I tried the amana couontersink because all the woodworkers on social media were raving about it. Well, it is a good option and the carbide means this will stay sharper and last longer, however, I just prefer the dewalt. The tapered bit of the dewalt allows screws to be driven in a lot smoother. I don't have any scientific evidence, just my experience with the ease at which I feel screws drive into holes drilled with the tapered dewalt as opposed to holes drilled with the straight bit of the amana. Of course the dewalt costs around $10 and replacement bits around $6. So for the same cost you can get the dewalt with 2 replacement bits. Not sure if the cost of the amana warrants spending the extra money just to have a carbide countersink. On the positive side the shank of the amana is round and turns truer in the drill. I find the dewalt with the hex shaft sometimes has a slight wobble. I have had several dewalt countersink bits I have had to return for this exact reason. The amana is good and I rated it 4 stars, the dewalt I would rate 5 stars.

be careful
this baby will eat thru the wood with no problem at all. So be careful. or youre going to drill in too deep. Dont ask me how I know.

Poor quality of the cut for wood.
I purchased this Amana Tool - 55200 Carbide Tipped 82° Countersink #4 Screw with 55246 Adjustable Depth Stop.Good news first:1). 55200 Countersink fit perfectly into 55246 Adjustable Depth Stop.2). Carbide tips looked very well grinded.3). Excellent chips removal when used with 55246 Adjustable Depth Stop. Now bad news:The counter sink hole was rough and not circular with significant tear-out on edges. Such result is caused by several short comings of the product:1). The pilot bit is not centered. The hole in the shaft has slightly bigger diameter than a pilot drill bit (fastened by the hex screw). This out-of-center pilot bit position results in an excessive wobble using drill press or hand drill.2). The countersink portion has only 2 carbide flutes which create an extremely rough cut (especially when the pilot bit wobbles). I tried on selected pine and oak at different RPMs using drill press and hand drill and result was consistently unsatisfactory for me.3). 55246 Adjustable Depth Stop was leaving black circles while it was advertised as "no mar" by Amana.I would use this setup only for pre-drilling pilot holes for building decks and other outdoor projects using very rough lumber. If you try to use to build any cabinets, for any fine wood working project inside the house stay away from this product. You will not be able to plug countersink holes because those come out not round (even using a drill press).

Amana Countersinks are the Best
These Amana countersink drill bits are the best. They are very well designed and, because they are very sharp, you don’t have to force them into the wood. You do get what you pay for and these are well worth the money!

Great pilot bit!!!

Fantastic bit. If you countersink at all this is what you should use. The carbide cuts the wood or metal and leaves a perfect sharp edge vs the steel bits that quickly wear and leave burrs around the edges and cause additional work especially if you plan to plug the hole

Best Countersink I have every used
I read about these last summer when doing several Ipe' decks. After burning out several other countersink bits on one deck. I paid the extra for a few of these. One of them drilled several thousand holes this summer and is still able to do fine finish holes for cabinets this winter. Well worth the $25 per bit.P.S. I did have to replace the drill portion after every deck as they tended to burn during a long day drilling...

It’s not for metal
Have countersunk over a thousand screws restoring my 1959 Chris craft. And it still cuts as good as the first countersink
