Spain released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Mono ), Spanish ( Mono ), Spanish ( Subtitles ), SPECIAL FEATURES: Black & White, Booklet, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: Adapted from a typically tricky J. B. Priestley stage play, Dangerous Corner is a cautionary fable about the damage caused by telling the unvarnished truth. A burned-out radio tube is the catalyst for a series of painful and potentially dangerous revelations during a weekend party. The upshot of all this is the suicide of party guest Ian Keith and the mysterious theft of a large sum of money. Through an ingenious last-act plot twist (of the kind so beloved by Priestley and his ilk), the audience is treated to both a happy and a tragic denouement. Long ignored by film historians, Dangerous Corner was rediscovered when it popped up repeatedly on the American Movie Classics cable service in the mid-1980s ...Dangerous Corner

A presentation that's a little too old for today
One of Priestly's great plays that explores 'what if'. At 66 mins long this is a very short movie indeed and is clear that the setting is tailor made for theatre rather than screen. Getting this play in any repeatable form though is very rare (don't know why as its a fine and intriguing story) so although this film dates from 1934 it is a welcome addition to any film collection. The acting is of its time though with dialog delivered that can be quite stilted. The sound is naturally poor but is in keeping with the age of the film and is to be expected. The only modern commitment to film of such a fine work as this is the BBC production from 1985 with Daniel Day-Lewis but puzzlingly the dvd is only available to the US and Canadian markets. Note that with this Spanish version you are stuck with Spanish subtitles if you have the original English soundtrack on - or without subtitles you have the Spanish soundtrack. You unfortunately cannot have the English track without subtitles. A solution would be to import the movie into HandBrake (free software) and rip without subtitles then you can save into a convenient form (for personal backup use only).Interesting viewing but this version is just too old to recommend and does not stand up too well to modern day. Five stars for story content but its 80+ year old age is just a step too far.

It isn't in English - don't buy
Really furious! Although the instructions said you can get it in English, only the introduction was in English, the rest was in languages other than English. Buyer Beware!

PRIESTLEY'S FEAST OF DIALOGUE LEAVES YOU HUNGRY FOR A STORY WITH A SINGLE ENDING.
I obtained my copy of this film from a small UK DVD seller. The print and Dialogue where excellent. The acting also excellent. A Priestley story in every way. The sets are few certainly a theatre story placed on to a film. One can not help but feel cheated as we are presented with two versions of events, both hinge on the radio working or not working during a dinner party. Version one the radio does not work most of the performers reveal themselves to have committed bad actions. (There are so many bad actions it is difficult to believe). Version two the radio works the performers story is so bland as to make the viewer feel indifferent. Worth seeing if only for the great performance of Virginia Bruce and Melvyn Douglas.
