Great for Beginners
If you are thinking about moving up from an R100, I would recommend it. I originally purchased the R100 and returned it for this. It has a ton of more features, and the R50V's video capabilities are even more powerful than the regular R50 with 4K 60fps cropped or 30fps uncropped. You don't get a viewfinder, but the touch screen is versatile and I haven't had a problem using outdoors. Battery life is solid, also if using as webcam it stays powered thru USB-C. Very easy to switch camera modes in the menu even though there's only one image mode on the dial. The V body is more sleek, so putting a pancake lens on would make it very easy to travel with. You won't be disappointed!

Need a budget camera? THIS IS IT
Honestly, for the price, this camera can't be beat... Combine this with the SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 RF mount lens and it's a great combo for vlogging, recording, and even filming cinematic shots. The CLOG/CGamut color profiles do great in edit to save highlights when filming, and the auto-focus eye/face tracking hasn't lost tracking yet. I wasn't sure if this camera or another one for our purposes (like a Panasonic Lumix, or Sony)... but this has been GREAT. If you're saying to yourself "I need the best budget camera and lens combo that will level up my quality" then this is the camera you need. I only say that with the pairing of the specific lens I use. I also have an ND Filter for it, and a super fast SD Card... While the stabilization isn't great, that's really a minute point and shouldn't deter you from getting this.. find a way to keep it steady HA! It also takes great photos... I added those to the review. Fairly easy to use if you take the time to learn the menu. And the size for vlogging with the vertical mount option is great. Unless your wanting to spend over $1000 just for a camera body, get this camera/lens combo.

Good camera, great value, endless possibilities.
I'm still getting familiar with all the features and whatnot, but as far as still photos I can say this thing is amazing, I have shot video with it but I haven't actually gotten around to producing it so we'll see how good the clog is for color grading.

Best value
I wish it had IBIS but for the price point, the electronic stabilization + kit lens stabilization is quite good. Audio and video quality are excellent. This camera is so light and small. Easy to haul around. I am afraid that it’s too light and could break easily but I’m careful. Menus are a bit oversimplified. It’s not horrible but I don't see the point of it when the regular menu system works fine.

Good video camera
I got this to upgrade my old canon ti5. Needed a new camera that could record video for longer times. Absolutely happy with the decision. Get to record in 4k and with the right type of memory card can record for longer than 30min straight. Since I had a few canon lenses alr qdy I just bought an adaptor so I didn't have to buy all new lenses and save some money. Adaptor was like $150 bucks

The Cannon R50 V offers exceptional functionality at an affordable price.
The Canon R50 V is a terrific choice for all levels of content creators. Accompanied with the RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 STM Ultra-Wide lens this is my go-to camera for traveling when I need to keep my gear light. I also bought a SmallRig cage with a side handle attachment. This setup is fantastic for travel with my Peak design shoulder sling bag. I add a Hollyland Bluetooth mic kit, and I’m ready to go. I also purchased a SmallRig handheld tripod with Bluetooth connectivity. The camera’s video and still image quality is truly outstanding. A wonderful value and addition to my Cannon arsenal. It’s easy to use and the vertical filming is a great option for social media story posts.

Not a typical SLR - and that's a good thing.
I really like this camera but I also have mixed feelings about it. For experienced photographers who are used to typical SLR-style cameras, this will take a bit of getting used to. It's small, like a point-and-shoot model, but it has all the functionality of a modern digital camera. Because the camera is small, you don't really hold it the same way as you would an SLR. It's light and comfortable with smaller lenses, but a bit awkward if you mount a larger lens, especially hand-held. However, when you put it on a tripod, it works great, especially with the large, flexible touchscreen. I especially like the ability to control the camera with an app on my phone, but it makes me want to be able to control the tripod that way too!
