AODELAN External Flash Battery Pack Battery Power Bank for Nikon SB-5000

I’ve tried it out - it works. So far so good. Only 4 stars because it is bulky, heavy, not a particularly ergonomic shape, the Velcro fasteners are a good idea but not really long enough to be truly functional. Probably too big and heavy because too many batteries that are essentially uneccessary.

The battery pack is sturdy and has an on/off switch. Very easy to carry on your belt during long photo shoots. The battery pack still had a strong charge after 6 hours of use during a wedding! (I replaced a Nikon S9 which does not have an on/off switch.) Note: it requires 12 batteries - a bit of overkill, but works well! (other pack only used 8). Also weighs a bit more. Overall, it's a great product and the cost is very reasonable. I highly recommend it!

I never miss a shot. Recycling power is a dream & feels like it lasts forever too. The case that attaches to the belt is built extremely well. Strong material + durable Velcro. Extremely pleased!

I am a professional photographer and I couldn't have been more thrilled when Nikon released it's newest speedlight--the SB-5000. This new generation of speedlights used radio control instead of optical control and that flexibility is HUGE for professionals. After looking at all the options for battery packs, I chose this one because of the mix of small size, ease of use and price. IT was a great call on all counts! It uses 12 AA batteries and powers the speed light for over 1000 shots. In fact, I haven't bothered to count. Before the COVID crisis, I was shooting 4-5 restaurants a week and the batteries lasted me over a month. And while I didn't know it at the time, the power-pack greatly reduces the recycle time for the lights. The SB-5000 is already a superior speed light with lots of power and faster recycle times than the other Nikon speed lights, but you'll notice a big improvement with these power packs. At lower power settings, the speed lights will allow you to shoot almost continuously and at higher power settings, your speed lights will recycle in about 1 second. In my kit bag, I now carry three SB-5000s and three of these power packs and I can shoot all day and all night without worrying about needed to replace batteries. And all that for a fraction of the cost of other solutions. Highly recommended for anyone doing serious flash photography.
