I love this popcorn. I bought a case in July 2017 and of this writing (April 2018) it still pops great and is great tasting. I have a Great Northern Roosevelt machine. When we have company coming to our house to stay, I will pop several batches before they get here. They appreciate the popcorn smell when they arrive and instantly (sometimes before they even take their coat off) dive in. After they leave and there is popcorn left in the machine, I will munch on it for several weeks. I live in the mountains and the air is very dry so that is why the popcorn will last a long time. After I got my machine, I tried some other popcorn kits and even though they were good, they popped 'white' and I was looking for an attractive buttery 'yellow' popped corn. I stumbled onto Mega Pop one day when I went to the hardware store. They had a small popcorn machine with 'yellow' popcorn. I asked them what kind of popcorn they used and he pulled out the Mega Pop. I bought a bag from them and went home and made it. Fantastic! Found the company on Amazon and ordered a case from them. The popcorn has a nice lightly buttered taste. One could add more butter or other toppings after the corn is popped to suit your taste, but I like it right out of the popper. The Flavacol that is premixed is not overwhelming either. I highly recommend this popcorn for its taste, color, and durability on the shelf.

Thanks to all the patient and dedicated reviewers here, I decided to pony up for This method of buying popping corn, flavacol and oil and for This palette, it is a Winnah!. We actually went and bought the Giant Bucket of popcorn at our local theatre so we could be pretty assured that we were not just fooling ourselves (we regularly did this, and it was becoming "who hasta' do the Chore" for movie night, we needed relief, particularly in Weather) We Really Like the movie-theatre stuff!We (4 of us 20-60years) Do notice a difference, but honestly, we noticed a difference between different batches at the theatre as well, so we unanimously voted nearly Perfect. Following other's advice, we ordered up the Ghee (doesn't Soak, or Wet the popcorn with milky stuff) as well and feel like luxury when we can have the real deal popcorn on stormy/wintry nights (not just them, but Particularly them).We use  Purity Farms Organic: Clarified Butter Ghee, 13 oz (3 pack)  and the  West Bend Stir Crazy Corn Popper, Green  which can be had for $35-ish if you're willing to wait, we couldn't be happier!The Only alternative to this was buying all of the ingredients separately and when I described How Much of the products I would need to buy and store for 'Perfect Theatre Popcorn' everyone just Laughed at me, tossed the keys to drive to the theatre again.extras:All the recommended 'secrets' that I can recall -. . Stir Crazy, CAREFULLY adjust stir rods before using popper - the teflon plate expands Greatly and you will grind off the covering. It Is a real PITA, as you need to cool back down and try again several times before you reach the "when hot, no rub (grind)" perfection, but it is worth the effort, particularly for 'spreading the flavacol' evenly.. . We have washed the Stir Crazy top/bowl in the dishwasher 12 times so far with no ill effect, time will tell, but honestly, we don't care if it gets cloudy (2014 Whirlpool and Finish Powerball, if it matters).. . The 'six ounce' kit:  Gold Medal Popcorn Kit Coconut, 8oz kit for 6 Oz popper, 36 count  is supposed to be a better fit for the Stir Crazy, but we are happy with the 8oz at a lower price (19 vs 13 cents/oz excluding waste, see below) and the reviews of the smaller package make us wonder.. . Make sure that the flavacol is mixing well while adding corn, the stir rods can gather it in clumps.. . Throw in three kernels, pop, then remove from heat to add remaining popcorn: works well, but easy to forget that the oil will spill out if you're not Very careful. The idea is to then add the remaining popcorn 'off-heat' in a single layer and flavacol evenly spread throughout, return to heat, and they All pop comically fast.. as soon as they stop sounding like a snare-drum-roll, switch off, remove from heat and dump, no burnt.. . If you're willing to put up with un-popped kernels, the 8oz is Perfect for the stir-crazy: as soon as popcorn expands lid above the stir tray, switch off, remove from heat and dump - NO possibility of burnt, and P-L-Enty of popcorn, with about 30 kernels unpopped.. . If you're picky about your butter coverage, try a wide-opening spray bottle like restaurants use for Baklava: hot water or microwave ghee while corn is popping, pour a quarter of popped corn, spray spray toss, repeat until all popped corn is in serving bowl, then to four (Large) single serving bowls.. . Recommend that you try the Mega-Pop with no or very little salt for your first time and No Butter (Ghee). It will Not be theatre popcorn, but you will be surprised at how good it is with the least amount of 'oh damn' goodies that aren't real healthy.. we obviously went back to 'cholesterol and BP be damned', but everyone liked the Plain version, and it is much easier to make for a quick fix - pop,dump,eat (and stands up better if One person has to have some, leaving the remainder for people to graze later on).Highly Recommended for Happy Popping!

Everyone loves it

After hearing about this for years, I finally gave it a shot. The corn pops really well, but I just don't think it has enough of the movie theater flavor that I want. We went through a case of the Great Northern and it was excellent flavor-wise, but popping wasn't the best - lots of kernels left over. I simultaneously bought the Mega Pop and the DIY components to make my own and I can get the components to the level of the Great Northern but the Mega Pop falls short. No regrets buying it, though, because it still pops very well and the corn itself is really good. We'll continue to alternate between the "easy" Mega Pop and the DIY stuff this time, but I think I might ultimately return to the Great Northern for simplicity.

My PTO buys this popcorn to pop in our machine at school. I tastes amazing! The kernels make a nice size piece of popcorn and the buttery taste is right on. We have tried to make popcorn on our own, but the consistency is never right. This product is consistently good. Our kids love it. It makes a great fundraiser too. I get about 8-9 servings per pack ($.15 each serving) and including the ($.02) cost of each 1.5oz bag I use, my cost is $.17 a bag. I sell it for $1.00 a bag. This gives me $.83 profit a bag. That is a great return on our money.I also love how easy it is to use this product. It truly is a no brainer. Product ships fast. Like the taste and ease of use

This is the best premade popcorn kit. I use it in my great northern popcorn machine and it is perfect. I have read that others say to really heat the oil first, but you get more flavor if you put everything in at once. My popcorn machine has a warming light so it doesn't get cold and chewy. I let the warming light heat up for about 10 minutes. Turn on the kettle, put in the MegaPop kit, turn on the stirrer and let it do its thing. After its done popping, I let it sit under the warmer for about 5 minutes to "dry" the popcorn and then it's ready. Great color to the popcorn, very crunchy and delicious. Highly recommend, you can't go wrong with this popcorn!
