Size:Big Pack - Blue Spruce Blue spruce is a medium-sized evergreen tree growing to 25–30 m tall, exceptionally to 46 m tall, and with a trunk diameter of up to 1.5 m. The bark is thin and scaly, flaking off in small circular plates 5–10 cm across. The crown is conic in young trees, becoming cylindric in older trees. The shoots are stout, orange-brown, usually glabrous, and with prominent pulvini. The leaves are needle-like, 15–30 mm long, stout, rhombic in cross-section, dull gray-green to bright glaucous blue (very variable from tree to tree in wild populations), with several lines of stomata ; the tip is viciously sharp. The cones are pendulous, slender cylindrical, 6–11 cm long and 2 cm broad when closed, opening to 4 cm broad. They have thin, flexible scales 20–24 mm long, with a wavy margin. They are reddish to violet, maturing pale brown 5–7 months after pollination. The seeds are black, 3–4 mm long, with a slender, 10–13 mm long pale brown wing.

I think I had almost 100% germination!
I did not expect it. I thought it will have a low germination rate and dropped 5-7 seeds in one container, ended up 5-7 seedlings in one container. So I had to transplant after they were about 8 weeks old. Great experience!!

Not sure I got what was advertised
The product arrived carefully packaged, which was immediately impressive. But when I pulled out the tiny seed envelope, the contents half-filled one corner of it with particles so fine they resembled powder. When I dumped the contents into my palm and tried to sprinkle them over the soil, they turned into a smudge on my fingers (and yes, my fingers were dry). Some of it fell onto the soil, but I couldn't control where it went. If this is the form it is supposed to be in, then I think I way overpaid for a corner of powder. Can't return it because there's nothing left to return.

Very low germination rate
I've had better success with Coast Redwood and Sequoia seeds from other sellers than with these Dawn Redwood seeds. Given the number of them included in the packet, I figured they hadn't been sorted, so I expected a low germination rate, but after a three month cold stratification in damp peat in the biology department's walk in fridge, I only had two seeds sprout after several weeks in the planting medium. I'll try a couple different things with the rest, but for the first go I sowed them at a mix of depths from on the surface to about 1/2 inch deep into a mix of 4 parts moist ProMixBX potting soil and 1 part sphagnum peat moss that went into a repurposed Jiffy 72 cell tray on a heat mat set to 80 F and under a bank of 6 48 inch 40 watt cool and daylight florescent lamps about 8 inches above the tray which was covered with its plastic lid. A similar tray planted with no more than 60 Sequoia seeds started at the same time yielded 12 seedlings in about two weeks.

I haven't used all of them yet, but the ones I have planted have sprouted

It is Gods will if a seed grows into a beautiful tree. Now I will try the Colorado Blue Spruce.
I like the fact there are so many seeds. I just started a few of them and have never tried growing them.I have grown seeds from apples and pears, they did pretty good, but like all seeds some just are not going to make it. But I'm excited about trying Colorado Blue Spruce. I appreciated the fast shipping and packaged very good. This is a hobby for me, and I grow trees to give to people that need them. It is Gods will if a seed grows into a beautiful tree.

Poor Germination rate
I was excited after seeing the success rate in some of the reviews. So when they arrived I stratifed about 125 seeds, not knowing exactly how well they would grow I planted them about 5 to a pot, in 25 pots. The packaging says germination should happen in 16-20 days. Right on cue, on the 20th day I saw 4 small seedlings sprouting. I was so excited, I checked the next day, and the day after... Unfortunately it's about 15 days since the 4 seedlings came up, sadly they were the only ones to grow. They range from about an inch to an inch and a half for the tallest one right now.Of the 125 I planted, I had 4 grow which is about a 3% germination rate.

Mostly crushed husk
It diffidently not 1000 seeds. Most of the seeds itself are broken and really just husk

Crepe Myrtle seed
I hope I have as good luck growing these as I have had other trees, I have ordered some plants and for some reason they never made it. I did not ordered the plant from this place. So will see in about 2 to 3 weeks on how they are doing. I do have a positive attitude that these seeds will make it. I do not need 1000 trees but with that many seeds I am sure I might get several and if so I will give my neighbors some. I want to line my drive with them.
