Feature rich DVM
The features, large display, and low price are what I like about this meter. I've only owned it a few months but it is a very user friendly meter.

Great inexpensive multimeter
I'm a design engineer who uses high end test and measurement equipment and designs it.In terms of ergonomics and functionality this is a really nice multimeter. It's a bit smaller than I expected but chunky at the same time and will definitely take some abuse. The dial has a satisfying click and is easy enough to push with one finger. There are stops for all the key functionality including AC and DC voltage without having to use a select button (select is only used for AC versus DC current), a big plus. The leads are decent quality with molded in holders to store them. Packaging and instructions are also better than most cheap meters.BK Precision is my choice for ~$100, fluke above that. But on the low end this is a very nice all-around option.Update: Just had the chance to use it to troubleshoot an outboard motor and it was great (bad solenoid). The stand worked fine on the sloped boat surfaces and it has enough bulk that it doesn't fall over as you move the leads around as the pocket type meters will do.

Good first impression - need to use it more
I mulled over the purchase of this digital multimeter (DMM) for several months. I needed a full-function meter, as my current one does not measure current (Fluke 101). My research prompted me to read many reviews and check the company's online presence. It turns out Etekcity manufactures all kinds of electrical and electronic goods for the consumer market. At any rate, I decided to "pull the trigger" and order the Etekcity DMM; the price was right and I still have the Fluke to fall back on for all basic applications other than current measurement.I was very pleased and impressed with the packaging: It is minimal but well protected. The user manual is a bit sparse but well written, if not a bit awkwardly, by a non-native English writer. Nonetheless, the manual is completely functional.Bottom line: The product looks good, well made and easy to use and grasp in my hands. The fit and finish is top rate. The probes also seem to be of good quality. I can't comment too much more as I have not made a measurement yet, but I have powered it on (it does ship with batteries installed) and checked the backlight function. I look forward to this serving me well for my home prototyping needs. It may find some professional use, but this DMM is best suited for the hobbyist/student user - in which it should perform well.Very bottom line: This DMM is a great value!

Very Pleased, Accurate Readings, Battery Pre-Installed!! Easy To Read Display With Good Backlight, Well Made
I am very pleased with the Etekcity MSR-500 multimeter. At under $10 it provides accurate and easy to read measurements of AC/DC voltage, low amperage (in-line), resistance and can test diodes. I've worked on electronics professionally and as a hobby since the 1960s and this compares well to much more expensive meters from my past.At this low price if it gets lost out on-site with a client I'm not going to worry like I would with a $100+ Fluke brand meter. I'm sure the Fluke meter may be more accurate and perhaps more durable and a very professional piece of equipment. For my use I can't justify the difference in price for my home and work use.The MSR-500 is well designed for carry-along work and is built for the knocks and bumps of field use. The removable leads and rubber bumper around the outside edge are features I rarely see in "cheap" multimeters. The back-light is bright and perfect for dim spaces like when I used it to identify a doorbell problem as a failing transformer at my dimly lit electrical box in the basement. It has already come in handy for me with home wiring, computer power troubleshooting, and continuity testing. Here is what I like:+ Easy to read display with great backlight+ Accurate compared to a friend's professional multimeter+ Removable leads and standard plugs (if you need to replace them)+ Leads are about 1m (3ft) long which is very useful+ Durable with rubber bumper reducing the chance of breaking in the toolbox or from a fall+ It came with battery installed (thoughtful!)+ Kick-stand was surprisingly helpful working on a ladder in my basementWhat don't I like? I can't read the dial without my glasses, but is that really a fault of the meter? I don't think so.I'm very pleased with the MSR-R500. It puts a lot of quality in a small space for a very low price. At this price I just by another if I leave it behind at a client location: it's effectively disposable. As should be obvious by now I'm giving this handy multimeter 5 stars.

Surprisingly decent
I needed a few cheap meters to measure efficiency of an LED driver (i.e. power in versus power out). I didn't need them to be very accurate, they just had to agree with each other. I bought three, and two of them measured almost exactly the same values, but one was a little bit off (but still not bad).I was expecting much worse for the price, but I can't fault these as cheap meters. The internal construction is fine. Nothing jumps out at me as being badly built or hazardous. Even the packaging is nicer than I thought it'd be, and the rubber bumper is completely removable. The rotary dial feels nice and clicky. And it has a backlight at THIS price point? Wow. There was clearly some thought put into the design. These are a fantastic addition to a homeowner's tool kit. They're perfect for measuring things like batteries and power supplies where you don't need an ultra high accuracy reading. Professionals could even use one of these as a backup, but it won't replace a Fluke.

Great Multimeter and excellent value for your $.
After looking for a basic multimeter and checking customer feedback I chose this one. Cheaper than Cdn. Tire sale and better product. Have found accurate and useful.

One of my favourite meters
I just love how easy it is to use, I only use 3-4 settings which is dc volts, ohms, Ac volts and amps, I really like how easy this meter is which it automatically does settings so your don’t have to individually select you tenth of volt or 100/volt etc it just automatically places the dot! The more expensive ones are just to confusing and impractical for my needs but this is perfect
