Large surface for large family orders.
For a family of seven, everyone can get a pancake in the first batch. There is very little temperature difference across the surface so everything cooks pretty well at the same time. The surface has some rough spots, though, and that makes washcloths snag when washing, but doesn't affect the food. We're glad we found it and it pretty much stays out, replacing the need for kiddos to get put and mess with frying pans (eggs for breakfast, quesadillas for lunch, and especially good for reheating lots of pizza at once with a foil cover).

Well worth the money
Sellers pictures showed backslash attached to the unit. I was surprised when it was not included. They should state that in thier ad

Major QNR issues at factory = safety concerns at home
Purchased this after watching the Americas Test Kitchen review. I initially really liked it.However after using this for a couple weeks, we found the heater coil was actually exposed underneath the griddle.I noticed it when I thought I saw a red LED or small light coming from under the griddle, and I was curious what it was indicating, but it turned out to be red-hot exposed heater coil. I saw another spot too that was also exposed. This shouldn't happen, but I suspect the coil conduit is too thin, and there are insufficient checks inline to see if there are any defects that shouldn't ship to the consumer. I think the heating coil is possibly ablating the conduit? It was hard to tell but the moment I saw it we stopped using it.Luckily we noticed it just before the return period was over, because I would much rather return this to Amazon than try to get a warranty repair or replacement from Broil King after the fact.Note that we operated and cleaned the unit exactly as described in the manual, and I was very careful. I don't even know how a user could cause something like this with a well designed product. It shouldn't be possible for this to happen under normal circumstance. What I liked: The heat distribution was very even, the cooking surface was very non stick (although I'd rather not have as rough of a surface), and it was a very big cooking area. I liked the flip-down feet for the back legs. I liked how sturdy it appeared, I liked the lack of plastic parts. Heating control seemed to be accurate. What I didn't like: The massive safety concern due to poor quality control, exposing red-hot heating coils.Save your money and buy a Presto, which I now consider to be a much better unit. The TiltNFold is better in every way except it's not quite as even when cooking, plus it's a little smaller. But I found it to be a much more sturdy unit, even though it uses plastic for the legs, it's high quality (polycarbonite maybe?) and very heat resistant. Seems to be much better for nearly half the price.

Great griddle. If you get the less expensive black option, it doesn't come with the splash guards
I've used this several times now and its a great griddle. I've had many $25 cheap griddles and this puts those to shame. NOTE: I thought both versions came with the splash guards, as the difference noted is just the color - Black or Gray. Now I know that the black version is cheaper because it doesn't include the splash guards. I would have liked those.

Nice griddle that's made in America!
Works well. Even heat. Gets plenty hot. Not flimsy. Has enough room to make five average-sized pancakes at a time. Note: I tried making six pancakes at a time. But it has a drain hole for grease along the bottom edge (above the drip tray). If you try to make a pancake in this area, the batter drips into the drain hole.Besides pancakes, it performs well for bacon and eggs too. The non-stick finish doesn't stick (I use some Pam when I make pancakes).Dislikes: It doesn't come with a robotic arm that automatically flips your pancakes for you...Seriously, this is a very nice product, and it's made in the USA.

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
My husband ordered the Broil King PCG-5 as a gift for me, but I had wanted the one with the splashguard. Upon trying to exchange/return the griddle we found out that we were responsible for paying the return shipping fee. This set us back $85! So on top of the $165 we had already spent, we had to pay to have it shipped back. This was in June, now October and we have never received the refund and can get absolutely NO HELP from the company as to where our refund is. Extremely frustrating! Before we returned the PCG-5, my husband purchased the PDG-10 with splashguard. BIG MISTAKE. Had I known about the failure to refund the first purchase I never would have ordered the second one. I will say that the newer griddle worked great the two times I used it before it melted on me. I was using it one night and went to pull out the grease tray and noticed it was stuck, upon further inspection, looking underneath the griddle I saw the heating element was red hot, gray metal ash was falling onto my counter top (which now has a nice burn spot on it - thank you for that!), and exposed wires. I quickly unplugged it. I've spent over a month trying to get someone to answer emails and messages to the Amazon seller and Broil King themselves to rectify this situation. Nothing. It's ridiculous. We are out over $400 and no usable griddle. When the griddle was working it was great, I loved it. But the customer service will prevent me from ever buying from Broil King again.

Best electric griddle there is
Works great--expensive but worth every penny. Follow the instructions on where to start your food, orderly distribution matters, and you will be pleased with the results. Great for pancakes for a family or guests, everyone will be able to sit down and eat at the same time.

ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. Manufacturer off-loads defective product into Canada and won't honour warranty.
This product is a scam if you are in Canada! The details claim there is a 2 year warranty, so when we contacted the manufacturer directly, they told us that the surface they were using was not performing well and they discontinued it, replacing it with a better no-stick surface. They were prepared to send us a new unit, until they found out we were in Canada, which resulted in a response that they would not help us. USA Superstore said their time frame for returns was up, and Amazon.ca said it was too late to file a A-Z Guarantee claim. Only owned the product for 6 months! Pancakes stuck from the very first use. Also, this is the third pan we have bought over the years, the previous 2 did have a different surface, and while they wore out over time, in the first year the performance was flawless. So we do know the difference. In September, my son moved to an apartment for university, and we bought him a ROCK by Starfrit pan from WalMart - 1/4 of the price, and much, much better than this pan. Plus, I'm sure WalMart would replace or credit if we have a problem under warranty, unlike Amazon.ca who won't even provide an opportunity to communicate our problem.
