Farpoint77mm DSLR Camera Filter unmounted Bahtinov Mask, FP443

I am obviously not allowing for long enough exposures. all i get is a black sky! what iso should i use and how long should my exposures be?

Will this work on the canon 24-105 f4 if i purchase this also amazonbasics uv filter ??

Do I have to use a filter to get this to connect properly?

Can u put this on a dslr lens and the hood, or is it 1 or the other?
