Gamdias Hermes P3 is a great keyboard!
First off, this is the review for the Gamdias Hermes P3 104-key mechanical keyboard. Amazon saw fit for some reason to put the reviews for a half-dozen or more entirely different keyboards in the same review section (so pay attention).PROS:Gamdias uses a rebranded low-profile Kialh switch that feels really good to the touch... With the low profile switch, it just feels more natural and its a perfect balance for both gaming and typing. The RGB lighting is nice and with the HERA software (free download) you can fully customize a LOT with this keyboard... for me, i just wanted to program certain keys to be a certain color (like WASD for my FPS games)... if you really want to get into it, the HERA software will also allow a host of macros to be programmed. The board has a simple layout, not too gamery or exotic, and it's just a very clean and functional design.CONS:Out of the box, the windows key is on the right and the function key is on the left... opposite of what pretty much every other keyboard has... but it is swappable with the keypuller and using the HERA software (first thing I did was swap the keys and programming around). Speaking of the HERA software, Gamdias's website is really wonky, good luck figuring out how to even download the software (I eventually was able to), and once you install the software, while powerful, its a bit of a hot mess... you can do a lot with the software, but there's going to be some trail and error with it.ABOUT MECHANICAL SWITCHES:If you're new to mechanical keyboards, or don't know much about the many different types of switches for them that make each feel very different... here's a brief rundown: Now first, you'll often hear the term "Cherry MX [blank] switches (the blank being a chosen color). This is what the keyboard will feel/sound like... also, many/most manufacturers use "clones" of the name-brand Cherry MX, but for most intents/purposes, they are the same... so Cherry MX Blue vs Cherry MX Blue clone (or any other brand name) usually means it will perform/feel the roughly the same, so I'll just mention the colors and what they more or less mean:Blue switch... perhaps the most common, they are tactile in feel and very clicky in sound... best for typing, but many people enjoy them for gaming as wellBrown switch... these are tactile in feel, but a lot quieter than Blues... a good all-around switch for both gaming and typingRed switch... these are linear in feel (no clicking) and very quiet... a lot of people like them for gaming, but can often lead to typos in straight up typing for lack of feedback. Some people say reds are best for fast clicking games.OVERALL:I really enjoy the keyboard and am having a good time with it... while there are some cons, once you get past them, they're not an ongoing issue, so are easily forgotten. If you want a basic looking keyboard with good RGB lighting, lots of options for customization and a really good feeling mechanical keyboard in a low profile, I heartily recommend the Gandias Hermes P3.A final word here, i'm not verified on Amazon as I did purchase my keyboard from NewEgg, but I wanted to share my review with everyone on Amazon. I purchased mine off-site because I really wanted the Brown Switches which for some reason are only offered on NewEgg... the only option on Amazon is in blue switches... which drives everyone in my house crazy from the loud sounds of the blue switches... we have three mechanical keyboards in our house, and all are Brown switches, we just love browns the best!
