Hot chocolate. I use this for making really good hot chocolate. I wouldn't blame you if you leaned in closer to the monitor in disbelief, but it's not all bad. The viscosity is slightly higher than water, and once you start adding things, it's got a substantial resistance to flow.Let's talk about the device itself. Good build quality, separate power switch on the right side towards the rear. Stirring element is very good for traditional stir bars, but has occasional problems with a cross-shaped stir bar. Heating is a little bit weaker than I might prefer. Good enough to maintain higher temperatures, but you'll need a book if you want to start from room temperature for anything but a minute volume.The aluminium plate doesn't have any sealant or coating, and readily absorbs stains. I'm reasonably happy with it.

This is my second heater (the first one still works) and I like how simple it is. I couldn't figure out why there was more than one magnet, but now I know. Apparently, they run around and hide when you turn your head. Order extras.

I had a slight issue originally, but when they found out, they reached out to me to offer a replacement and 10 dollar refund!! Talk about customer service!! And this thing is so handy!! Its what you expect for the money. The item was more or less what I needed it to do the biggest flaw pointed out be others is the thermal controller. It goes from 140 to way too /#&=ing hot with the smallest movement of the dial.

Took a week to arrive.When it did, the box was torn open, it was missing part of the thermometer holder and, best of all, it nearly started fire 🔥 within 30 seconds of powering on.

The stainless rod would not screw together because the threads were not cut right. The machine works great except the temperature is very touchy. It's hard to get the temp I am looking for. The stirring magnet only works on low settings. It will not stir at a higher speed for some reason. Other than that, it's a great matching for the beginner.

The stirring worked great but the heating was disappointing. I was trying to heat a 750mL water bath and even after insulating the system with foil I was only about to achieve a temperature of 84-85°C. I wasn’t trying to boil the water but I figured a hot plate would at least be hot enough to boil some water. So in my opinion, this is fine if you need to warm something up, but not very useful if you need to boil water or cook something
