Recently, I had been scouring Amazon for various camping essentials. As any camper/survivalist knows a fire is the lifeblood of the wilderness, whether it be to cook, keep animals away, or create a bug screen around your site that is why it is imperative to start your kit with a high quality fire starter. I had been looking for a 'branded' one, but I kept seeing cheap knockoff type items from unknown sellers. I decided on the Surviveware Fire Starter because it seemed that this company specializes in a diverse product line of camping and survival gear and it seemed like all of their product were met with high praise from their customer base.I cannot say how please I am with this Fire Starter! The magnesium rod is very heavy and dense which makes the sparking seamless. It comes on a long braided rope for a secure grip. The whistle is a nice touch, but hopefully I never need it! All in all for the price and perceived customer sentiment I think this is a great value and would absolutely purchase again, but something tells me this baby is going to work for a very long time!Thanks Surviveware!

This was a perfect addition to my survival kit due to its compact size, usefulness, and functionality diversity. The magnesium rod was indeed thick, robust, and easy to use. Even though I intended to use it solely for emergency purposes, I tested out that the fire starter was able to work effortlessly. I envision it would also work well for camping and adventure activities needing some fire and heat. The whistle and paracord are nice emergency additions that you hope you don't need to use, but still nice to have. Great value all around.

I you like camping, or ever experience emergencies, this is the perfect firestarting tool to have! I appreciate the longer rod as for me it has taken me more time to light fires when I have used similar products with a shorter rod. Ater very little instructions and demonstrations, it was easy enough for my little niece to use! Best of all, I'd recommend this seller as they began their top notch customer service before the item even arrived, making me feel very secure in my purchase. Also comes with a whistle in case your dog gets lost or get a sports game going at camp!

I got this as a gift for my father. We took it out of the box, and with a few scrapes, we were able to get a light! Product looks nice and is worth the extra money. Would recommend this as a nice beginner fire starter.

This is a very good product. It strikes/ sparks easily. Performs a well as others I have had that were 2 1/2 times the cost. The strike could stand to be a bit larger for a better grip when using, but other than that it is very useful and fully functional product. I would and may buy additional ones as gifts.

This worked great for my family and I! The whistle was nice and loud and the scraper has a convenient measure on it as well as a bottle opener. And of course a convenient paracord. The only downfall is the stick has paint on it and was difficult to get a nice spark going at first, but once it got scraped off there was nice and big spark, and that is why I gave 4 stars.

This emergency fire starter by Surviveware is perfect to bring while camping or hiking. The rod is long and sturdy which makes starting a fire much easier. I have never started a fire but was able to easily and quickly with this fire starter. The whistle is a great addition and I like that it doesn't take up much space. I would highly recommend this product!

This striker set is sturdy and easy to use. Right out of the box, the first strike-off of this large rod produced enough to light the tinder. Really impressed with the quality of the striker and the rod. The only downside is the striker cord has a whistle attached that blocks those of us with larger hands from gripping the striker easily. This can easily be remedied by removing the whistle though. Highly recommend this product if you want an easy backup flame source.
