These are strong and work well with use in the ground.

These exercise pen ground stakes are the only product that I've found are sturdy and capable of securing my xl X-pens. They are have not been available for a while and over the last couple of years I've lost or misplaced most of them. I was so happy to see they Midwest had them in stock again, but when I received them before the expected delivery date (which of course I was thrilled about) they were not electro-coated. Everything is exactly the same, but I'm concerned that over time they will become rusty and maybe well I've lost them again, but still, the expectation is that they would be coated black to protect them from the elements. I've reached out to Midwest and waiting for response, but I needed these a month or two ago.

I was looking for a pet exercise pen or at least some place where I co I’ll let me cat freely explore. This was a perfect solution. Sturdy, weatherproof and solid construction. Easy to set up, easy to add additional panels. Very happy with my purchase.

Stability
I have 3 Portuguese Water Dogs and the fencing is great. No escapes. I have 2 sets set up and connected to my motor home with padding . I bought lattice at Lowes, cut them down and now have a very secure play area.. I added the extra ground stakes but not sure if I need them--just makes it a little more stable.

We used these to secure our chain link fence. We have a samoyed that can fit through the smallest spaces. These are very sturdy and long enough to secure our fence to the very soft ground. The only issue was the very high price; however, they are marketed for small dog pens.
