Contain PTFE which is essentially the same as PFOA
If you're looking for something that's PFAO free then I'd steer clear of these. They market themselves as being PFAO free but their ceramic non-stick material contains PFTE. The well-known brand name of PTFE-based formulas is Teflon by Chemours. Chemours was a spin-off from DuPont. I've seen many ads of this product with people concerned about PFOA and GenX in the non-stick coating and the response from Hexclad is alway that it does not contain those and that they use a safe ceramic material but fail to mention that PFTE is used. It's only mentioned in the FAQ's on their website.Their website also states PFTE is safe. This is from their website- "Q: Are your pans free of PTFE?A: Our pans are PFOA free but contain some PTFE. PTFE is in over 95% of all nonstick cookware including our ceramic-based nonstick. PTFE is safe and inert. In fact, it is used in surgical matches meshes, dental implants and heart stents which are all implanted in the body. We do not use PFOA chemicals and other chemicals that gave many other nonstick pans a bad name. Why do we use some PTFE? Sadly, non-PTFE nonstick cookware does not work well for long periods of time. In fact, in our tests, the largest non-PTFE nonstick in the world only held up for 45 minutes of consecutive use."If you've seen the Netflix Documentary "The Bleeding Edge", you'd know that medical devices and implants that are approved by the FDA undergo even less restrictions than that of the EPA. Just because it's approved and on the market does not mean it's safe.Actual safety of PFTE; "Pyrolysis of PTFE is detectable at 200 °C (392 °F), and it evolves several fluorocarbon gases and a sublimate. An animal study conducted in 1955 concluded that it is unlikely that these products would be generated in amounts significant to health at temperatures below 250 °C (482 °F).[29]While PTFE is stable and nontoxic at lower temperatures, it begins to deteriorate after the temperature of cookware reaches about 260 °C (500 °F), and decomposes above 350 °C (662 °F).[53] The degradation by-products can be lethal to birds,[54] and can cause flu-like symptoms[55] in humans—see polymer fume fever. Meat is usually fried between 204 and 232 °C (399 and 450 °F), and most oils start to smoke before a temperature of 260 °C (500 °F) is reached, but there are at least two cooking oils (refined safflower oil at 265 °C (509 °F) and avocado oil at 271 °C (520 °F)) that have a higher smoke point."

Need to Season Properly - Directions are wrong
I first saw HexClad cookware on sale at the Wisconsin State Fair, and after doing some research online, it was apparent that these pans are really only available from direct sellers at fairs or other special events - that is if you want to get them for the best price. I scored my set at Costco for $350.I took them home, and seasoned them with vegetable oil per the instructions. That was a real mistake. The next meal I cooked, which was at high heat, literally turned the vegetable oil on the pan into brown gunk. I had to completely scrub the pan with Bon Ami cleanser to get the gunk off.I tried again, this time using Canola oil, which has a much higher smoking / burning temperature than vegetable oil, and viola, the pans worked great. I am now able to cook on them with little or no oil and the are very easy to clean up.

The Worst Service Ever
I purchased the 12" frying pan and I received another 12" frying pan and lid, as a separate present. I was beyond excited to use this pan and thought the price was right. I had watched all of the videos and read a number of positive reviews. I cook a lot of eggs and the video shows no oil or Pam on the pan and the eggs slide all over and don't stick. I took the pan out of the box, read the directions about seasoning the pan. I did exactly as shown and cooked on low heat. Then I cooked an omelet and the eggs not only didn't slide like the video, but they stuck to the bottom. Completely false advertising. I then contacted the company via email, as nobody answered my calls. I asked how to go about returning and the first email back was that I need to season the pan. I responded that I did and they responded that I need to cook at low temperature. I responded that I did and after fighting back and forth they finally sent me the address to mail it back and was told that I have to pay for shipping. I went to UPS to mail and it was $60 for each box. I could not fit both pans and the lid in one box. The pan cost me $125. That means that half of my order and 1/3 of the gift I received was lost. I did not mail and emailed Hexclad to get a label and have them deduct from the refund, as they probably paid less than $10 to mail it to me. After another 3 emails back and forth, I received the following: "It's our policy, God Bless". Really? So the pan sucked the service sucked and I am now stuck with these to crappy, useless pans. Do Not Buy.

Sexy pans
My husband brought these home fromCostco where he paid $350 for them. I almost killed him. Then he showed me how to use them. I wanted to jump his bones. I have never used a better non stick pan. I get to use metal utensils and not worry about ruining the pans. I make perfect omelettes now and I can even fry chicken in the wok. Clean up is so simple. I LOVE these pans. They are pretty much maintenance free EXCEPT you have to season them which is a very simple process unlike with cast iron. Just 4 or 5 minutes with Avacado Oil and medium heat.I only have one complaint...I want pots as well. I have been told they are coming but when? I’m tired of my 500 lb stainless steel pots. I want some of these for soups and sauces etc. Other than that these are flawless pans that look great and cook better.
