Easy to program
Item did not include the Emergency key insert. However, it was easy to program (having 2 working factory keys). The seller indicated that they would send a replacement for the missing key on the next business day.To program (on 2018 Taurus) Have two factory (working) keys inside the vehicle (alternative method to page 65 of the owners manual)1) place new key to be programmed in the slot inside the center console2) press driver door unlock control 3-times3) Press the brake pedal once4) Press the driver door lock control 3-times5) press and release the brake pedal onceThe indicator on the Start/Stop button will flash quickly (indicating program mode)6) within one minute press the start/stop buttonA message will be displayed indicating new key was programmed7) remove key from center console and press unlock button8) verify new key function by pressing lock, unlock and starting vehicle (take the other keys out so the car senses only the new key)

There is no manual way for a user to program it.
As advertised, this remote will need to be programmed by a qualified Automotive or dealership. I would highlight qualified. Don't waste your time looking for youtube videos. Since i refused to go to the dealership, i shop around until i found one locksmith that seems trustworthy. They charged $ 90.00 to program the remote. Adding the programming cost to the remote is still cheaper than going to a Ford dealership. All the remote functions work good -- Ford Explorer 2014 Limited --

It’s a good backup fob. Delicate, but it works ok.
It works ok. That’s why I’m giving it a 3 stars. I dropped it and the case exploded. It was very difficult to put back together again. After that happened the controls went a little screwy. The rear tailgate opened on its own, door locks took a few attempts to work correctly. For the price, cost and time it took to get it programmed I expected better.

Will not sync with a 2013 Ford Escape
These two key fobs I purchased will not sync with my Ford 2013 Escape I have had two different places try and it won't work beware

Exact replacement for factory Proximity Keyless remote.
The second driver Keyless Proximity remote was not turned in when traded in. This unit is an exact replacement. Programming it requires the car to be hooked up to the factory dealer's Ford computer, if you don't have the two original units. If this is going to be a third or more unit, you can program it in yourself, instructions in the owner's manual.
