bfruitful Freeze Dried Fruit Chips Variety Pack, No Sugar Added, 12-Pack

I purchased this because I love freeze dried fruit but (until now) had yet to find a mango one that tastes like mango. All different packs taste like the actual fruit and the mango is AMAZING! It's healthy, great quality and the packets are convenient to take on any road trip. The only challenge I've had is finishing a bag myself because each time I open one, my husband finishes it up :)

The taste is extraordinary and so is the packaging. It's more of a novelty item though. The fruit is freeze dried - not "dried". The pieces are weightless and papery until they hit your tongue and absorb moisture. Not practical for backpacking as they take up too much space for the calories. Lots of fun to eat though. Enjoy.

I got the variety pack so that I could try out a few different fruits. The ones I received were Mango, Pineapple, and Strawberry/Banana. My first impression was honestly that they tasted a little like fruit flavored packing peanuts, but after a few more tries, I got over the initial texture shock and came to appreciate them a little more. If you've had dried fruit in the past, these are a little different in that they have an almost 'fake' texture to them. Even in normal dried fruit, there is still a little moisture left in the fruit, but in these, because they are freeze dried, they really removed all the moisture and it gives the fruit pieces an odd texture. The taste was a mixed bag for me; I liked the Mango the best of the three I got, it had a subtle but refreshing flavor and the pieces were all fairly uniform in quality and consistency. The Pineapple was the next best with a tart flavor, but these actually looked like dried pineapple bits moreso than the Mango did. I did not care for the Strawberry/Banana at all. The Banana bits were not very good, they had a muddy, earthy flavor that did not remind me of banana at all. The strawberry bits were clearly chopped and dried strawberry bits, but the characteristic sweetness of fresh strawberries was not there at all. I though these were easily the worst flavor of the three I tried. Overall, i'm not really sure where to land on these. I appreciate the fact that they are natural and well made, but the texture to me is just not something that I am a big fan of. Moreover, I think the fruits lose a lot of what makes them great when you present them in this fashion. I did enjoy the Mango though, and I may try those again along with the Red Apple.

I received a variety shipment of Strawberry/Banana, Mango, and Pineapple. The pineapple is my favorite. The strawberry/banana is good added to cereal. The mango is probably my least favorite, just based on texture. They all become a little gluey and stick in my teeth, which I don't like. The packages are quite large - I get that they want to have a certain amount of air around the dried fruit pieces to protect them, but they take up too much room to be stored easily.
