The Tempest The Graphic Novel (American English, Original Text)

My son loved this- He read it in anticipation of Shakespeare in the park performance and was happy that it was original text instead of paraphrasing. Nicely illustrated. Would highly recommend for young readers or adults struggling with the antiquated usage. Really makes the Elizabethan language more approachable.

We have been reading many summarized Shakespeare stories with our children. I bought this for our nine year old, debating if the actual Shakespeare text would keep her interested. She read it non-stop until she was finished and found it totally interesting. I will be buying another version of this style before we see A Midsummer nights Dream this summer.

I am an English teacher and I needed a way to bring the beauty of Shakespeare to a group of reluctant readers. I stumbled upon this graphic novel version of "The Tempest" and bought it at once. It keeps all of the original language (a must for my upper level English classes) but supplemented it with some great art to help support my students. In short- if you are a fan of Shakespeare or graphic novels in general, don't hesitate to buy from this series. I'm going to try to muster the funds to buy a class set for next year.

A faithful retelling of Shakespeare's Tempest, done in full color with period costumes and the special effects only a graphic novel can faithfully create. Wonderfully funny and dramatic and vivid in all Shakespeare's glory.

If students are struggling with the Shakespearean vocabulary, this is a great tool. Our daughter put the Original Text pages (different book) next to the American English Text pages. It was very helpful to interpret the meanings and intent, along with the pictures.
