So much bang for your buck. For Shovelry!
This is, simply put, an amazing game. The art direction is amazing, especially if you love the retro asthetic and the controls are tight and responsive (especially if you have a pro controller), there is a bit of a story in there to follow, tons of stuff to find hidden throughout the game and several interesting options to play with and I'm only taking about the shovel Knight Portion of the game. That's not even scratching the surface of what you get in treasure trove. I've put over 10 hours into the shovel of hope campaign and still have a handful of music sheets to track down. That alone is enough play time and content to warrant the price, but then there is plague of shadows. At present I've put in over 5 hours on that campaign and I'm about 3/4 of the way through. There is also a challenge mode and an entirely new campaign starring Specter Knight and another bonus mode that I haven't even tried yet. And the King Knight campaign and battle mode are still to come. Plus it supports couch co-op which is always great. It looks amazing on the TV and in portable mode. I will say this though: the shovel Knight and plague Knight campaigns share the same levels. The story, items, and mechanics of the characters are completely different though. Specter Knight has more original levels from what I understand based on other reviews I've read. Between all modes, based on where I'm at 15 hours in, I think I'm easily going to get 40+ hours of amazing game out of this one. Really the sheer amount of content plus the great gameplay and multiplayer for such a low price make this game a no brainier. If you love classic platforming games you absolutely must have this super Mario/MegaMan/Legend of Zelda hybrid style game. Be warned though that the challenge is there. It can be pretty tricky and test your platforming skills like a MegaMan game. I can't recommend this enough. It's right under breath of the wild in must have Nintendo switch games in my opinion.

A Great deal, Kid-friendly
The Shovel Knight franchise is probably one of the best game series I have ever played and the the Treasure Trove is perhaps one of the best deals in gaming. The Treasure Trove edition comes with all four expansion (DLC) campaigns taking place in the Shovel Knight world, the original Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, Spectre of Torment and the yet unreleased King of Cards campaign. That's right, even though this game was released in 2014, the developers at Yacht Club Games are still releasing content for it.Note that there is a suggested order to play these campaigns.First: Shovel of Hope, where you play as the titular character, freeing the land from the evil grasp of the Order, lead by the enigmatic necromancer.Second: Plague of Shadows, where you take on the role of Plague Knight who stops at nothing to gain power. This campaign acts as an parallel campaign to Shovel of Hope. While the level design and story can be seen as similar to Shovel of Hope, to call this campaign a rehash would be disingenuous. Plague of Shadows consists of a new story, new characters and new gameplay elements that make this game feel like a more in-depth and challenging version of Shovel of Hope.Third: Spectre of Torment. A prequel to Shovel of Hope, you explore the haunting backstory of Spectre Knight. At the heed of the Necromancer to stalk the land to subjugate its people. New platforming and combat elements make this game both interesting and refreshing.Fourth: King of Cards. Unreleased as of this review. The shovel knight franchise is a fun series, thanks in part to it's originality and self-aware nature. Both challenging and absurd, the games are a blast for both the nostalgic and the new gamer. And with even more content being released soon, the game is a great deal!

What. A. Deal.
I have had such a blast with this game. For the price of a single game, you get FOUR. King Knight so far is my favorite, but I had a lot of fun with the other modes as well. Plague knight got a little slow for me, but that's probably just a personal preference, but I really can't recommend this game enough. Get it, show Yacht Club Games some love.

Wasn't a game for me (initially)... updating as I get on plenty more hours
So far, I'm not having tons of fun. The sound track is decent and graphics are great for its intended purpose. I die 15-30 times per level (or more), maybe veterans that are better players or love a good challenge will enjoy that. I don't.Many people who seem to enjoy the game think it's easier than old Mega Man games. I for one hate having to restart from my last checkpoint and repeat going through part of a stage that was already difficult to pass.Overall, I prefer Blaster Master Zero, but that's just my opinion and style of games that I enjoy. It's still challenging but it's easier than Shovel Knight.(EDIT) :I gave up on Shovel Knight character and started a new game with Specter Knight. I'm loving the quick sword slashing style gaming. It's still challenging whether it's level 1 or 3. I get frustrated when I die 15-30 times per level. Don't even get me started on the bosses. At least you can restart full health next to the boss entrance. I'm getting some fun but I still at this point feel like I've wasted $25.EDIT 2:I bought a cloak so spikes and pits don't kill me instead takes away life (will) and power (darkness). This has made it so much more enjoyable for me. I'm starting to really enjoy this game. It has a lot to offer but takes time to learn. Thumbs up! Some levels seem much easier than others so I'm happier than compared to my first two hours of gameplay. I'm 5 hours in now.

Excellent game
One of the most fun games I've played in the last few years. I love the authentic retro design and the humor in the game. The levels are challenging enough to require some effort without crossing the line to frustratingly difficult. The expansions are excellent additions, and even though they are largely rehashes of the original levels, they present an engaging story and the play style is different enough to really make it feel fresh. If you are a Switch owner who doesn't already own this for another platform it's a no-brainer.
