So flippin' good. Might be an extinct cheese soon.
Limburger may be extinct in the US one day, so I got it while I could. I was raised by a CRT TV set, and good a healthy dose of Looney Tunes, which I enjoy to this day. This iconic stuff is literally, even aside from the money, the best cheese I've ever tasted. The smell is like stomach acid, but you have to get within about 4cm to actually smell it. If you nic the rind off, it's gone, and you are left without the whole experience, but still it's so rounded, rich, and just deep. I wish it was in the local store, or cheaper, because it's a niche product and all - anyway, totally worth it. Cheaper if you go to the seller's site, but hey, I didn't know what then. Still satisfied. Heck yes.

Great cheese!
My uncle, who was blind loved this cheese on rye bread with onions and mustard. None of the adults in the house couldnโt stand the smell so the wouldnโt fix it for him but I would make his sandwiches despite the smell because he was the best uncle ever. One day I got up enough nerve to try it and I fell in love with it. I use to be able to find it in the stores but the stopped selling it. My uncle is no longer here but I order it for myself now. I have to eat it after my husband go to bed because he canโt stand the smell either.

A friend once told me Limburger cheese is like a treasure guarded by a dragon
A friend once told me Limburger cheese is like a treasure guarded by a dragon. The dragon is the smell, and if you can get past that, the treasure is the taste. Well there ain't no freaking treasure. It smells like a fat, juicy bird that's been rotting on a hot sidewalk foe a week. And it tastes EXACTLY like it smells. Wretchedly putrid. If you want a delicious gourmet cheese, imported Dutch Edam is a much better choice!

Good strong flavor
Good strong Limberger flavor. Rind was a little thick., but ok. Would have liked it a little thinner rind.

intense cheese
This cheese does not sting that bad. It tastes like a cross between swiss cheese and blue cheese. does have a smell though. keep it in tupper ware though. I have tried several recipies with it and it really makes a good incredient.

It tastes worse than it smells.
Out of curiosity I decided to try Limburger cheese. I expected the smell to be unpleasant, but I thought it might taste good. It was the best selling cheese in America during the 19th century. So, the smell was actually faint. Unpleasant but faint. The taste was bad. Very, very bad. Spit it out bad. So, now I know. I canโt believe people ever ate this. I canโt believe anyone eats this. I gave it 5 stars because it was remarkably awful.

Tastes like cheese
Once past the aroma, great taste. Never tried it before. My days are numbered thanks to a disease that is killing me. My goal is to try things I never would in past. Itโs great cheese. Itโs Easy to find uses online.

Hmmmm..Not Bad At All!
I bought this cheese in memory of my grandfather as a Christmas present to myself. I remember him eating his limburger and onion sandwiches. He would stink up the whole house during lunch. Today I decided to try it on crackers. I cut off some of the rind and gave it to my dog. Upon tasting the rind, the dog had a disgusted look on her face and spat out the sample of cheese. She proceeded to sniff it for about thirty seconds then tried to eat it again. She immediately wanted more. I had the same reaction. I just ordered two more bricks of Country Cottage limburger. I'm going to age one brick for 4 months so it gets nice and putrid. I'm looking forward to trying it! Limburger cheese. Taste it once and you're disgusted. Taste it again and you're in love.
