Nice crib that can be used for cosleeping
When we were expecting our son in 2012, we decided to buy a mini-crib for a number reasons: 1) Space - we wanted to keep the baby in our room for a while, but could not accommodate a larger crib. Further, we didn't feel the desire to convert his crib into a full-size bed later. Twin size was preferred, which is possible with this model. 2) Continuity - We wanted a baby bed that would last a while. Son is 16 months old now, tall-ish, and still fits pretty well. I think we have at least a few more months. We plan to transition directly to a twin bed/mattress. Our situation was also a little unique in that we were moving to a new home approximately 3 months after the baby was born, but wanted to keep our son in a bed he was used to, even if everything else changed. We were afraid a bassinet or ArmsReach would be outgrown before the move, and that we'd have to get another crib anyways. 3) Thrift - mini-cribs are way cheaper than full-size ones. Note: we did replace the included pad with a better mattress. The crib was a good deal with or without the pad. We went with this particular model due to its style, price, non-toxic finish, and sturdiness. The natural wood color is very nice and barely shows scuffs, unlike some of our other "espresso" furniture. Assembly was pretty easy. We actually took the fourth side off and "sidecarred" the crib to our bed for the first 8 months, using bungee cords. The height matched nicely since there are four settings on the crib, and we were able to adjust it to match a platform bed, or mattress and box spring on the floor. We started on the highest setting, and pretty much moved it down as our son got older and potentially more able to fall out. When the crib was first side-carred, there was a gap of a few inches between the mattress and the bed. So we cut a piece of masonite a couple inches wider than the crib and put it on the bottom of the three-sided crib. Then, we moved the mattress over towards the bed and rolled up a towel to put in the gap between the mattress and the crib side opposite the bed. Put a sheet over everything, and voila, gapless cosleeping arrangement. (My definition of cosleeping here is to have the baby at the same level as the bed and close enough to reach out to, but in his own space for the majority of the night.) We used this arrangement for naps too, and just put a body pillow on the bed/crib seam where the 4th side would have been to prevent rolling/crawling out. This setup lasted about 7-8 months for us (until baby was able to crawl over the body pillow) before we put the 4th side back on the crib and moved it a little further from the parental bed. The setup in general was very convenient for late night feedings, rather than having to zombie-walk around the room/house multiple times a night. Anyways, I recommend this crib, especially if you are looking for a potential longer-term (to toddler age) cosleeping arrangement but don't want to share your bed or have room for something larger.

Such a pretty little crib!
After much deliberation (my son is 6 months old and we still hadn't purchased a crib!) I decided to buy a mini crib. It was a great price and I thought it would work better in my son's tiny nursery than a regular full sized crib. I am SO glad I bought this crib! It's small enough so that I was able to have it next to my bed as sort of a "co sleeper" but then when we moved it into my son's room it looked perfect in there. A full sized crib would have been way too big. This crib was fairly easy to put together - I did most of it by myself until the end when I needed my husband's help. It is well-made and the finish is beautiful. We love the espresso color. We love that we can use it as a head and foot board later on when he's in a twin sized bed. I bought the CRESCENT MINI CRIB 50 COIL MATTRESS by Da Vinci to use instead of the ridiculously thin mattress that came with it. The mattress I bought is the same thickness as a regular crib mattress and fits perfectly. The ONLY place (that I have found) that sells crib sheets that will fit this particular mattress is [...] (they are 25 dollars a piece! But very well made, and I think worth it). We also bough the breathable bumper in white for mini cribs. FITS PERFECTLY! All and all, we are extremely happy with this purchase. No disappointments. We were able to find accessories that work with it as well.

this crib is excellent. The assembly wasn't too hard
For the money, this crib is excellent. The assembly wasn't too hard, it is solid and really looks way more expensive than it is. The color is very nice if you like the dark stained wood look. It is a darker shade than the picture here seems to show. Our 6 month old (he is about 15lbs and 20 inches tall) outgrew his bassinet and this crib is perfect. The ONLY negative thing I found is that the finish scratches very easily and will not hold up well to normal use unless you are really careful. I only wish I knew of a non-toxic clear coat spray to coat the rails with because they will see the most use. I disagree with many of the reviews about the stock plastic coated 1 1/2" mattress. It is the appropriate thickness for a smaller baby and is firm, but not hard. If you read anything about SIDS, you'll know you don't WANT a thick, plush soft mattress. It breathes fine when covered with a mattress pad and sheets and our baby sleeps fine on it. Others here didn't like the MDF board that supports the mattress--I think it's fine. It is not designed to hold a tremendous amount of weight and it has a cross member in the center that makes pretty strong -- *within reason* -- no, it will not bear the weight of an older child jumping in it or a sleepy parent falling into it. I took a picture of the under side.

Very sturdy, solid design
I needed a mini crib so my jumbo sized 3 month old could still sleep in our room after he outgrew his bassinet. Very solid, well designed, looks great in the room, easy enough to put together, and i love that it has a 50lb weight limit since some of these mini cribs have like a 30lb limit. Im short and its pretty easy to lean into the crib to put him down and pick him up. I'm using the moonlight slumber little dreamer mattress (firm, dual sided, waterproof, 5" thick) that i also got on amazon for this crib and it fits perfectly. I wish i bought this from the beginning instead of a bassinet!

Great crib-would buy again.
I waited until this item had been used for awhile before posting a review. I purchased this to go in our bedroom as we already had a regular sized crib in the nursery. We realized we wanted our son to sleep in our room for the first few months and knew he would out grow his newborn sleeper/napper we were initially using-this seemed like a good alternative. It was very easy to put together and it took me about 45 mins (and that is with a two month old baby to take care of). It looks fantastic and is very sturdy. He is currently almost 7 months old and is in the 70th percentile for length/height and he still has plenty of room for now. I know some reviewers have said that their baby has slept comfortably in this even at two years old but I don't see that as a possibility for my son-I think he would out grow it by around 12-14 months (I only mention this for those who are considering this as their only crib-we will be moving our son to his regular crib very soon). Also, I purchased the Dream on Me 3 portable crib mattress with this which fit perfectly.

Sturdy, attractive and perfect size.
I am about to be a grandmother for the first time and wanted to have a mini crib to fit in one of my guestrooms for when my granddaughter will be here. The crib was not hard to put together, quite sturdy, and looks very attractive. I did purchase the coil-mattress that went with this crib because the pad that comes with it is quite thin. I highly recommend, but would like to make one suggestion. They place large warning stickers on the inside of this crib, saying the same thing that are nearly impossible to get off without damaging and look awful! After making 3 small marks on the crib trying to pick off the sticker I learned to allow the product “goo gone” sit on it allowing it to soak in the sticker 5 or more minutes and gently keep rubbing it off. Repeat until gone. I purchased touch up paint and know that will do the job on these small marks but just a heads up!

Beautiful and Sturdy!
We bought the DaVinci Kalani Mini Crib (in white) for our soon-to-arrive daughter because it's the mini version (made by the same company) of the Baby Mod Cadence Crib, which our toddler son now sleeps in. We love it just as much as our son's crib. It's sturdy and easy to assemble, and looks a lot better than many of the other cribs on the market. It's the same size (length and width) as our Pack N Play, but much taller. It looks as if it will last our girl for the first year, at which point we'll turn it into a twin bed for her big brother. My only complaint is that the mattress that comes with it is horrible. It's flimsy and doesn't fit the crib tightly enough, leaving a gap between the mattress and the sides of the crib (I know up to an inch is allowed on each side, but I prefer a tighter fit). We ended up buying the Naturepedic Organic Portacrib Mattress, and it fits BETTER than the mattress the crib came with. It's a much tighter fit and much less flimsy. We also went with the Carter's Portacrib Sheets, and they fit perfectly. Some other reviewers were worried about the seemingly flimsy MDF board that is the base for the mattress. It looks fine for supporting an infant's weight and activity level. I think by the age that toddlers start really jumping around in their cribs (around 15-18 months for our son) the crib will have been outgrown anyway. As a side note: A lot of people complain about the visible hardware in these cribs, but don't realize that they can't put wooden plugs in to cover the screws, because that would be a choking hazard for the baby. Also, the hardware has to be accessible, so that the crib can later be converted to a bed. I feel like DaVinci/Baby Mod actually has some of the better-looking hardware of many of the cribs on the market.
