Delicious, nutritious gluten-free flour
This flour has a slightly sweet flavour (as you would expect from chestnuts) which is less noticeable when cooked. Baked goods just have a greater depth of flavour. It behaves very similarly to wheat flour so it works well in a gluten-free flour mix to produce great light-textured bread and rolls. On top of all that, it’s very nutritious and has a naturally high fibre content. This brand is the best value for money I’ve found for a variety of naturally gluten free flours, including the chestnut flour.Update July 24 - have just bought again as I so love the flavour of this flour in my cakes. Good long best before date of more than a year.

Just like using fresh chestnuts
I bought this product as an alternative to fresh chestnuts which I collect locally in October. I use it in soups. It provides a little natural sweetness. Chestnut and bacon soup is particularly delicious. With some experiment, I found using only 25% of the flour gave the same result. Just mix with a little water first to make into a paste then mix with the other ingredients.Perfect!

Chestnut flour
Bought 2 packets to make vegan chestnut gnocchi, for our Christmas menu. It lasted all the hectic month. Added a depth of flavour & helped to contribute to our plant based dishes.

Quality
The flour had lots of small particles of grainy chestnut which had not been milled down so not suitable for use.Low favour and gritty sensation. Would not buy again

Hmmm....
I bought this so I could try a couple of recipes I'd been looking at for a while, that required chestnut flour. My verdict? While I like the flavour, chestnut flour doesn't produce anything which has an agreeable texture. It is dense and stodgy. I should have expected that, of course. If I were to try this again, I'd be tempted to mix it with regular flour, perhaps bread flour. There is an interesting contrast to made here with Besan (chickpea) flour, which is an Indian specialty and very useful in the kitchen. Chestnut flour is less attractive, due to the expense and its (apparent) limited usefulness.
