If you like gears you'll love this clock

If your idea of a clock has a digital LCD display and sets itself from a radio signal you probably will not like this clock. If you like gears that go 'round and 'round you'll love it. It keeps perfect time for several months on a couple of D cells. Its got lots of gears. I'm not sure all of them are strictly necessary but they all turn at different speeds and result is a dynamic sculpture a local clock repair shop described as "a really cool clock." The big gear right behind the hands is the second hand. It always makes me think of something the old Soviet Union might have built.I bought one of these several years ago and it worked perfectly until it was accidentally knocked off its shelf and damaged beyond repair. I looked for a replacement for many months and was about to give up before I found this source. It appears identical to my old one. Like the old one it keeps perfect time.Workmanship is typical Chinese plastic. In a very quiet room, if you stand within a couple of feet, you can hear a faint clatter of plastic gears. It's not a silent LCD but it's not noisy. It's designed to sit on a shelf. There doesn't seem to be any way to hang it from a wall.

Most intriguing clock ever

I have two of them, one in my living room and one in my office. They are handsome, the batteries last forever, and IMO they're as accurate as my iPhone. I'm gifting a friend one for his birthday.

Perfect

My second one. Almost everyone compliments my other one, this will become a surprise gift for someone. These eat two d cell batteries about every four months.

This is a pre assembled, plastic battery powered quartz clock

As the title reads, this is a quartz clock with plastic gears, already assembled product. It looks fine as long as you not touching it. If you are looking for quality build, or an assemble experience, this is not it

Cool Clock

This is a neat design for a clock, and one that makes the time very easy to read as well.I didn't have the problems setting up the clock that some other reviewers here describe.I just inserted a single AA battery in the base, adjusted the time using the setting knob down there, and I was in business.A rotating dial peaking through a window on the top of the clock shows the seconds ticking away, while minutes are indicated above hours by the red line down the side. The top and the bottom of the clock are metal, while the clear surfaces are plastic.A clever and handsome design that keeps good time -- what's not to like?

100% Tactile Satisfaction. Techno-whimsy at maximum.

TLDR: The pros outweigh the one con in a whimsical fashion. I l o v e this clock.Pros:- Delightfully sharp "TICK" as cards flip past minutes and hours.- Little swirly thing on the right turns to show activity between flaps.- "The weight is sign of reliability." -Boris "The Blade" it's hefty in a good way.Meh:- Legs are kinda weird, but articulation is handy I suppose.Cons:- My batteries were DOA, but this is really more of a minor annoyance.

Cheap, but not inexpensive, clock-like thing

This clock looks cool, no doubt about it. And, depending on your style, it could really be a nice accent piece as well. But the sad truth is it's a hunk of junk. I can forgive it's cheap, flimsy, plastic construction, even at it's relatively steep price. But what I cannot forgive is a clock that, less than 60 days from purchase, stops doing the one thing it's intended to do: tell time.At first I thought the problem was the single AA battery installed in the bottom of the clock. The contacts were loose and the battery never fit securely into its designated slot. I solved that issue and the clock began keeping time again. There's a little "second hand" disc on top of the clock (not visible in any of the photos, or when looking at the clock straight on - this is also a design flaw, as the hand can't be seen if the clock is placed on a shelf at or above eye-level). Once that started spinning again, I knew the battery was properly installed. That, and the loud audible "tick" the hand moves once every second told me the clock was getting power. Nonetheless, a few hours later, the clock stopped telling time. It wasn't slow - it actually stopped telling the time all together. This time, the problem wasn't the battery: The seconds disc was spinning and the omnipresent tick was still audible. Yet, the clock refused to turn on its axis and tell the time.I went to obtain a refund from Amazon, but was informed that the return period had expired, so now I'm stuck with a very attractive, but virtually useless, clock-like thing.
