For "patterns" read "illustrations", but otherwise and nice book
I bought this for my wife for her to get some ideas about her next quilting project. It's a rare enough book, but a nice find. Just be aware that when it says "patterns" it does not mean "instructions" in the same way as some crafters might think. It would probably be better described as "illustrations", since it shows the shapes of the panels, but does not show you cutting outlines for the pieces. You get the general idea from it, but you'll have to decide what bit gets sewn to what bit. Nice illustrations and good colour make it a worthwhile purchase

An enthralling book
A fascinating and enthralling book. I am a "confident beginner" quilter, and as soon as I had seen the copy of this book a friend had, I wanted my own copy! I put it on my Amazon wish list, and my eldest son and his family gave it to me for Christmas. Big mistake!! I spent the rest of the day browsing through it. I was fascinated by the glimpses into the author's researches and her imagined conversations with Jane by letter. The blocks look quite straightforward to construct, and I am hopeful that even with limited ability I will be able to work through most of them. I can't wait to get started!

Quilts
My Wife has been a quilter for many years and loves a pattern book. This was bought as a gift to combine two of our hobbies, she quilts, I study the American Civil War.The period is one we share an interest in. For my Wife, "Homespun" quilts are a fascination, the book was very much enjoyed.
