Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci is profiled in this heart-warming family film. Nadia began training competitively at the age of six, with the now world-famous coach, Bela Karolyi and his wife Marta. At fourteen, she became the first Olympic gymnast to score a perfect 10 and walked away with five gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze at the 1976 Olympics. The petite gymnast from Romania was now an overnight media sensation, inspiring a whole new generation of future Nadias. But, fame came with a high price. As Nadia grew into a young woman she struggled with isolation, weight gain that threatened her career and the fear of exceeding increasingly high standards. Nadia captures the hard work and determination of a young girl driven to success. The film stars Oscar® nominee Carrie Snodgrass (Diary of A Mad Housewife), Talia Balsam (Without A Trace), two-time Emmy® nominee Conchata Ferrell and Johann Carlo (Quiz Show).

Best movie ever
This has been one of my favorite movies for about 35 years now! It’s so inspirational! Nadia made Olympic history when she scored the first perfect 10 ever then went on to score 4 more in those Olympics games! She was the most talented gymnast of all time! I’ve tried to find this movie to watch for the past few years finding it on prime was the best night I’ve had in months and I watched it 3 times in my 48 hour time limit! Everyone should watch this movie and be inspired by the great romanian gymnast Nadia!!

Perfect for young gymfans!
I loved this movie when I was a kid! I taped it when it was on TV but missed part of it(forgot to hit record after the commercial). I watched it over and over again. Nadia was my idol and I watched everything gymnastics. This movie inspired me to sign up for the after-school program as well as the the local gymnastics school.I've been waiting so long for the DVD to come out, and now that 23 years have passed, I was so glad to find this DVD so inexpensively too! The acting is a bit cheesy and melodramatic sometimes, but I cried anyway. The gymnastic training scenes were very cool.I really liked the young Nadia and Bela as they were portrayed by their respective actors.

Good fiction but little connection with the facts
If they used fake names I would have given it 4 stars because it is a decent movie in its modest league (made for TV in the 80's with the expected bad acting). But, unfortunately, it pretends to be a about the real life events of Nadia Comaneci. Except the name of the characters, some gymnastics moves and the location of some events, nothing else is factual. Especially Bella and Marta Karolyi. The whole movie is basically a self adulating fantasy about them, probably to advertise them to the US public just about when they started to take over the US gymnastics Olympic training.

So Happy to Finally Have a Digital Copy
I loved this movie as a kid. It was what got me into gymnastics. I had a VHS of this movie for years. As you know, once you watch a VHS a hundred times, the quality starts to sink. I had rolls and all kinds of noise on the tape. So, I was pleased to see I could buy and download a digital copy of the movie.

Nadia
This is a wonderful movie. I saw this on TV when I was little and loved it especially since I love to watch gymnastics so much. This is a true story about Nadia Comaneci played by Leslie Weiner (her only movie feature) and her life in Romania, to the rise to stardom in the Olympics. She went from playing in her back yard to working for hours practicing gymnastics. From being a sound person, to one living on the edge. This is a wonderful movie about pledging your live to one thing only, even if it means leaving everyone and everything you ever knew, to do just one thing, gymnastics. What a life this child had, the suffering, the committed time spent practicing, and the competition with other gymnists. This is a wonderful made for TV movie that can be watched by people of all ages.

Gymnastic Heaven
I'm not a gumnast, never was never will be, but how can one NOT admire Nadia, whose iconic appearence in the olympics set the bar for the new Olympians. Here, her true story is told in an uncompromising yet engaging way, and we see her from the age of seven till adult, following her life choices and the manipulation that went on behind the scenes. Her famous 'attempted suicide' is covered generally but it is left ambiguous, never really telling the viewer whether it was deliberate and as a result of her stresses at the time, or a genuine accident. In some ways it is better left like this as you can make up your own mind. One thing it does show is the competitive and brutal nature of gymnastics, and the things they had to and have to do to stay on top of the game.Well worth a watch for fans of gymnastics and true story lovers alike.
