Sequel has plenty of laughs
Not as good as original Buck Privates movie. Still there are plenty of laughs and a varied performance by Lou Costello. His interest in welfare of a child is moving.Thankless role for Nat Pendelton in this installment.Better support from Tom Brown. Bud Abbott is a first rate wisecracking straight man as usual.

I really like the Midgets
The picture quality is outstanding for a movie of this age. It's amusing and being a speedway fan, I really like the Midgets. Unfortunately I couldn't find a DVD with the right Country Code, so settled for the tape.

Added to the collection
The Andrew Sisters are just wonderful. And the antics of Abbott and Costello are amusing any time I want a light comedy to lift my spirits.

Not so funny
This guys maybe were funny in 1950 but today... Tons of cliches of old times comedy and nothing original. Better buy Stan and Laurel!

A rarity....
One of the rare sequels that tops the original--of course, I'm one of those who thought the original "Buck Privates" was greatly overrated. Too much singing and dancing and the Andrews sisters for my liking. No such problems here--as aside from a few singing numbers from the service boys--Bud & Lou are given ample opportunity to work their comedic magic. Also, I'm not sure if this was the first film made after Universal Pictures became "Universal-International", but it's the first one that has the new UI logo at the beginning of the picture--so it's sort of a milestone in that regard. And I would add that it was during the period of Universal-International that the Abbott and Costello comedies were becoming very hit or miss. The story centers around Lou's attachment to a young orphan girl he met in France during the service and his efforts to get her into America and hopefully adopt her. Of course, this development gets Bud & Lou into some sticky and often hilarious situations.Perhaps the funniest bit of business is a scene that has nothing to do with the central plot--that being the scene where Lou attaches himself to a laundry line and somehow gets caught in a tug of war between an irate husband and Bud.Overall, this is one of the best of Bud & Lou's "Universal-International" films and a movie fans of the legendary comedy team should enjoy.4 1/2 stars

This film is a riot of fun..
This film is a riot of fun...good script and the gags; sketches are great. Bud and Lou were showmen of their trade in comedy; and without doubt- rank amongst the Greats!
