They played with them all day, there was no other 'toy' although they weren't sure what it was until they received some adult instruction -- ages 8-4. Imaginative and creative play -- all day and they made it up themselves. A fun day.

Being a grandfather and watching your grandchildren having so much fun with the walkie talkies is the greatest gift of all.

It's not really a toy, but to kids it is. So far I've bought 8 or 10 of these. They're cheap, they work really well, are easy to set up, and kids love them. As soon as I get a box containing the two walkie talkies, I put the 4 AAA batteries in each one (not included with the walkie talkies). As soon as the batteries are inserted the walkie talkie turns on; and the channel number is flashing. I use the up and down arrows to select channel 1; then, I press the menu key and the subchannel starts flashing. I use the up and down arrows to select 1 again. That's it. Turn it off and it's ready for use. Of course you can select whatever channel and subchannel you want, like channel 3 and subchannel 5; just make sure that the channels and subchannels are the same on both walkie talkies. The range is supposed to be about 3 miles, but I've not tested them. To operate them, you just press the talk button once, which sends a "beep" to the other walkie talkie. The other person then holds down the talk button while they are talking, and when they're done talking they release the talk button which sends a beep back to the first walkie talkie, and so on.

I bought these for grandchildren, they have enjoyed them so much. Good product and very durable.

I purchased these walkie talkies for my 3 year old granddaughter. I will say when they arrived we were a little worried about all the extra features, BUT they are great! Yes, they do offer multiple channels and extra features, but she is able to operate them just with the main channel.When they arrived, I was also a little concerned because they come in a tiny tiny box. It looked a little rinky dink. But no worries, they really are a great item, just with no extra packaging which is actually, quite nice.Would buy again.
