I've never bought an Apple product in my life... Not once... I've watched friends disappear into the ecosystem with mild suspicion and a firm conviction that I'd never purchase one of their products... Then Plantronics discontinued the BackBeat FIT 3100 — the earbuds that had genuinely changed how I worked out — and suddenly I found myself standing at a crossroads, purchasing cheap and experiencing cheap results. £249 being a steep price... I automatically went in thinking they won't be good and I'll get my money back... The BackBeat FIT 3100 had earned their place through sheer practicality. IP57-rated waterproofing, flexible silicone earloops that stayed put through any workout, and — crucially — the "Always Aware" eartip design that sat on the ear canal rather than sealing it, meaning I could hear traffic, gym noise, and the world around me while still enjoying music. They weren't audiophile gear. They were tools, and they worked flawlessly. When Plantronics pulled the plug on that line, there was a real gap in the market for serious sport earbuds that understood the user rather than just the spec sheet. Which brings me to the Powerbeats Pro 2... The ear hook design is one of the reasons I bought these, and it delivers. Unlike generic TWS earbuds that rely entirely on a silicone tip friction-fitted into your ear canal to stay in place, the Powerbeats Pro 2 use a rigid over-ear hook that anchors each bud independently — no neckband, no wire tether, just two physically secured earpieces that do not move. Five silicone tip sizes (XS through XL) allow proper canal sealing, and iOS users get an ear tip fit test built into the device settings to confirm seal quality before you head out. After six years of earloops with the BackBeats, this hook design felt like an upgrade in stability. Where the BackBeat earloops were flexible and passive, the Powerbeats hook is structural — it locks the driver housing against your ear with intention. IPX4 is less impressive than the IP57 I was used to, meaning the Powerbeats Pro 2 will handle sweat and rain splashes without complaint, but shouldn't be submerged. For gym and outdoor running use, that's sufficient. For anything involving water sports or heavy downpours, it's a compromise worth knowing about. This is the first generation of Powerbeats Pro to include active noise cancellation, and it's genuinely capable — particularly when you achieve a proper seal with the right tip size. The transparency mode deserves a mention too: it's among the more natural-sounding implementations I've heard, making it usable without the artificial, slightly phased quality that plagues cheaper transparency modes. Coming from the BackBeat FIT 3100's passive ambient awareness design, having a proper transparency mode I could toggle electronically was a step forward. Sound quality is driven, thumping, and bass-forward — tuned for physical activity rather than critical listening. There's good presence. Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking is also present. This is not an impulse purchase. But what you get for that money is Bluetooth 5.3 performance, seamless use on Android devices - a built-in optical heart rate monitor using the same sensor technology as Apple Watch. The latter is niche. I bought these reluctantly, and I've used them enthusiastically. The BackBeat FIT 3100 set a high bar for what sport earbuds should feel like — fit, reliability, and practical design over marketing promises. The Powerbeats Pro 2 clears that bar. The hook fit is better than any earloop I've used, the battery life is extraordinary, ANC and transparency are genuinely functional, and the Apple ecosystem integration is seamless in a way that feels less like lock-in and more like polish. Apparently I won't get my money back - honestly - I don't want the money - this opens up a whole new way of experience life through sound. Well played Apple :).

I had the original Powerbeats Pro and absolutely loved them - used them for running and just listening to the telly and my phone - so when it came time to upgrade I had high hopes, and these are a massive step up. The sound quality is great; maybe a touch bassy out of the box, but you can easily level that out with the EQ. The noise cancelling is genuinely amazing, though I still tend to keep transparency mode on so I can hear what's around me in traffic. The fit is spot on: you get an assortment of bud sizes and the phone even runs a little test to work out which fits your ear best, and once they're in they're rock solid - they do not drop out no matter how active you are. If you wear glasses or sunglasses the ear-hook just sits over the top, no bother, and I can wear them all day without any ache. The heart-rate monitoring surprised me too - if your watch dies it takes over and keeps recording, which is brilliant. If you like AirPods, fine, but if you want something that stays put through any activity these are the best - they're my go-to, and if they broke tomorrow I'd buy another pair. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Best sound ever in a wireless in ear... As simple as that. Checked reviews carefully. Following Sony and Apple ranges before, these are simply incredible in clarity, depth and creating a 360 degree dimension. Tested on Tidal. Noise cancellation is superb. Behind ear clamp prevent accidental fall outs, a major headache with some devises these days, Controls will take time to get use to. They are expensive, and I was able to afford them due to Amazon resell, presumably these were returns, knocking off 1/3 of the sales price, making them extreme Value for money. But even without the discount, they appear ti be well built quality so worth the price on the market.

I have Powerbeats Pro as well as these, and I have to say, the Powerbeats Pro are slightly more comfortable, with a larger and slightly softer ear hook. The difference in sound quality between the two is only noticeable when you engage the noise reduction in the app - you have the choice of toggling it on or off and there's also a 'transparency' setting, which I imagine would be useful if using them outside. Some have considered the sound a little 'tinny'. In comparison to Powerbeats Pro, Powerbeats Pro do have a slightly smoother sound, but the sound on the Powerbeats Pro 2, is clear, bright, and crisp, and definitely has enough bass to give them the necessary depth of sound; therefore, I wouldn't describe them as 'tinny', but if you like a lot of bass and heavy bass, then these won't give you that. They charge quickly and keep their charge. They come with a selection of ear tips, so you can get the right fit for you, and are charged with a bog-standard USB C cable, so no need to shop specialised Beats shop for a replacement cable, like the older models. Volume control is easy - up on the earbud itself and the button is more prominent on these, so easier to find. When in noise cancellation mode, the volume sounds louder, and you can override the recommended listening level on the app. I don't recommend it - the max volume is loud! They are expensive, but they are top quality - really sturdy, and you get what you pay for. My only issue with the design, as I stated earlier, is the smaller ear hook and the slightly harder material, which can put pressure behind the ear and on the tragus, when worn for a long time. Easy to clean. Overall, expensive, but worth it, if you want good quality ear buds for sport.

What a shame, these are horrendous, quality is good but far too much treble and not enough bass at all, the ear fitment is terrible for £250 ive had £20-30 earbuds that are comfier, constantly having to adjust them so they are in or comfy its ruined multiple workouts due to this and when you adjust them it senses your finger and pauses it so you need to press it again, to say these are dre beats at £250 they are terrible DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY just buy some £30-50 ones instead

I opened these, tried them and like most others, thought they sounded funny and awful. I was ready to send them back. After some research, updating to the latest firmware and using an ear tip size one size larger than normal was recommended. These fit differently to PBP1, they’re much more comfortable and don’t push into your ears as much. Hence the sizing up for the ear tip. I followed this advice and the sound is miles better. The tinny, sibilant sound was gone, and the fuller sound that I was familiar with was back. I would say these are on par with Powerbeats Fit (which I also own). Not quite as good as APP3 (which I also own). Closer to APP2 sound quality. Plenty for working out. I have these as well as the Powerbeats Fit as these will not come off when it rains. The wireless charging, H2 chip and heart rate sensor are very welcome.

My initial impressions are very good. They don’t fall off your ears and the sound is great with a deep bass. They also connect easily to iPhones as Apple own the company which makes these ear buds and they contain Apple chips so work seamlessly. This is the main reason I got them and that they don’t fall out at the gym.

This is a strange review to write. There are lots to like about these earbuds *in isolation* but I came to use them on the back of using the AirPods 4, and in that respect, as a direct comparison, I don't think these match up. The good: 1. Stay in place with the ear loops 2. Sound is good 3. Battery life seems good 4. Controls on the earbuds are handy The bad: 1. Noise cancellation, compared to the AirPods 4, is basically none-existent. 2. I cannot get a silicone tip to fit, despite trying all in the pack, so the seal is bad, and wearing for prolonged periods gets uncomfortable 3. Sound is quite "thin" compared to the AirPods 4 - bass is lacking and it can be a bit tinny. This is possibly due to the poor fit of the tips These were purchased for my son. He has quite small ears and wears glasses (as do I) so I thought the loops may help them stay on his ears. They didn't. The earbuds themselves are quite long and so they pushed the loops away from his ear. In the end I swapped my new AirPods 4 for these and he is delighted and I am less so! For an expensive product, I would say save your money and get the AirPods 4 - they are better value and sound better with much better noise cancelling and a comfortable fit. I can only see these benefitting people training hard in them so they don't fall off, but even then don't expect the noise cancelling to do much unless you can get a tip to fit snug in your ears (I presume - there seems no other excuse for them to be so much worse than the AirPods). If I could have returned these I probably would have. Sadly we both wore them and tried all the tips and so they are now, disappointingly, mine.

-= Ursprünglicher Gedanke Mein Hauptproblem mit Kopfhörern ist, dass ich eigentlich die Over-Ear mag, diese aber draußen eher störend sind. Auch beim Arbeiten gab es (bei meinen Overear) immer wieder Kleinigkeiten die mich gestört haben (Mikro nicht ausgefahren, falsch positioniert, schaltet sich automatisch ab, man schwitzt im Sommer drunter, Stoff/Leder löst sich ständig ab...). -= "Zwischenlösung" Daraufhin habe ich mir die Apple Air Prod Pro 2 gekauft. Klanglich kann man nicht meckern, Kopfkomfort ist super, aber die Dinger fallen permanent aus meinen Ohren. Egal welcher Aufsatz, länger als ein paar Minuten mit langsamen Bewegungen geht das nicht. Dazu habe ich mir dann Silikonaufsätze geholt, damit das etwas stabiler ist, was super funktioniert hat und die Dinger endlich brauchbar wurden, aber jedesmal an und abfummeln war auch nervig. Zudem die Akkuzeit oftmals nicht bis zu meiner Mittagspause gereicht hat. Ich habe noch versucht die etwas raueren Einsätze zu nutzen, womit die AirPods schonmal gut gehalten haben, aber nach 3-4 Wochen war mein linkes Ohr so aufgekratzt, dass es sich entzündet hat... Fazit AirPod Pro 2: Eigentlich super, aber nicht wirklich alltagstauglich. -= Powerbeats Nun kamen die neuen Powerbeats auf den Markt und der integrierte Bügel mit der Technik der AirPods gepaart klang nach der Lösung all meiner Probleme. Zudem die Powerbeats vom Akku her auch noch länger halten sollen. Einige berichteten aber von viel schlechterem Klang als bei den AirPods, weshalb ich anfangs zögerte. Da mir das Wechseln der Silikonaufsätze für die AirPods aber allmählich ziemlich auf den Nerv gingen (morgens drauf, Mittags ab zum Laden, dann wieder drauf, abends wieder ab und ggf. zwischendurch noch), bestellte ich mir die Powerbeats. Im Zweifel kann ich sie ja zurücksenden. Die Lieferung erfolgte schnell (Amazon halt) und das Auspacken und die Qualität der Kopfhörer ist eben Apple-Like. Ich glaube hierzu muss man nicht viel sagen. Alles hochwertig, alles durchdacht. Da ist nichts wo nichts sein sollte und alles da wo es sein muss und sieht auch gut aus. Beim ersten Aufsetzen war ich erstmal etwas am verzweifeln, da das alles etwas verdreht wirkte, bis ich die Bügel und den Kopfhörer richtig positioniert hatte. Danach bin ich die Einrichtung durchlaufen und habe die Kopfhörer etwas getestet und auch direkt verglichen. Die Klangqualität steht meiner Meinung den AirPods Pro 2 in nichts nach. Es mag sein, dass hier und da der Bass auf den AirPods etwas kräftiger war, aber das waren Nuancen, bei denen es auch sein konnte, dass die Kopfhörer in einem Fall nicht perfekt im Ohr hingen. Von elektronischer Musik über Rock bis Metal, von EBM Sachen über Gothic bis Punk...alles klang nahezu identisch und gut. Mein größter Kritikpunkt bei dem Klang von Kopfhörern von Apple auf Apple Geräten ist dabei eher, dass man keinen ordentlichen Equalizer hat. Auf dem Mac fällt das mit Boom3D weniger auf, auf iOS und Apple Music ist das immer schwierig (ja, geht mit Boom auch, aber dann muss ich über eine andere App meine Musik abspielen, um sie etwas zu verfeinern...einfach blöd). Aber das ist wie gesagt ein grundsätzliches Abspielgeräteproblem, primär vom iPhone, wobei es mir hier gerade gefallen hätte, hätte Apple etwas mehr Justierung angeboten. Der Tragekomfort der Kopfhörer ist meiner Meinung nach absolut fantastisch. Ab Sekunde 1 konnte ich machen was ich wollte, die Dinger blieben wo sie waren. Keine Zusatzaufsätze, kein langes rumgefummel, nichts! Einsetzen, läuft! So soll es sein. Ich selbst habe auch eine Brille mit Vollrahmen und durchgehenden Bügeln (also keine, die dann massiv dünner werden) und komme damit super klar. Hin und wieder muss man die Brille kurze nach dem Anlegen der Kopfhörer nachjustieren, aber insgesamt ist der Aufwand ähnlich wie bei Overear Kopfhörern mit dem Komfort von Inear. ANC funktioniert auch super. Allerdings im Vergleich zu den AirPods nur mit 90% der Leistung versehen. Ich saß aber in einem Raum, bei dem 2 Kinder lautstark diskutierten und nahm sie eher als kleine Randnotiz war. Also absolut ausreichend. Zumal ich diese völlige Isolation eh nicht so mag, da das irgendwann auch auf das Ohr "drückt". Die Heartbeat Funktion der Kopfhörer...keine Ahnung. Ich glaube jeder, der die Funktion brauchen könnte hat entweder schon eine Uhr oder einen Ring. Für den Rest war es bisher nicht interessant und wird es durch die Kopfhörer auch nicht. Ich kann mir auch kaum vorstellen, dass jemand sagt "Uhr musst du beim Sport ausziehen, aber die Hängebügel da an deinen Ohren kannst ruhig drin lassen". Nur leider muss man die Funktion mitzahlen. Eine Version ohne die Messung und dafür einiges billiger wäre natürlich sehr gut gewesen. Ansonsten sind die Powerbeats "drückbar", was es ermöglicht zum Beispiel die Geräuschunterdrückung umzuschalten oder einfach nur Pause/Fortsetzen zu aktivieren. Bauartbedingt kommt man allerdings immer wieder an diese Druckstellen, wenn man die Kopfhörer einsetzt, was immer wieder dazu führt, dass er 1. Kopfhörer eine Wiedergabe startet und der 2. diese beendet. Das empfinde ich persönlich aber nicht ganz so störend und inzwischen habe ich auch das einigermaßen im Griff 🤣. Die Zeit, die ich die Powerbeats nutzen kann ist auf jeden Fall, wie versprochen, länger als bei den AirPods. Ich gehe in der Regel kurz nach 6 Uhr mit den Hunden raus und kann dann bis 12 oder 13 Uhr arbeiten. Dabei muss ich auch sehr viel telefonieren, was den Akku deutlich mehr ausreizt als einfaches Musikhörern. Diese 6-7 Stunden halten sie aber in der Regel durch und haben dann meist eine Restladung von ca. 10%. Da sie aber extrem schnell wieder aufgeladen sind, beeinflusst der Akku meine Arbeitszeiten überhaupt nicht mehr. Bei den AirPods musste ich immer schauen, ob ich hier und da ein paar Minuten zum Laden finde oder teilweise einen Stecker laden, den anderen mit Gepiepse nutzen, um dann im letzten Moment zu wechseln. Diese Zeiten sind zum Glück vorbei. -= Fazit Es gibt sicher hier und da Kleinigkeiten, die entweder nutzlos sind, aber bezahlt werden müssen (Heartbeat) oder die Funktional nicht absolut perfekt sind (versehentliches Fortsetzen/Pausieren von Wiedergaben beim Einsetzen), aber im Vergleich zum Gesamtpaket aus Tragekomfort, Akkuzeiten, Klangqualität und auch schneller Wechsel zwischen Handy und Mac sind die Powerbeats eine absolute Empfehlung. Sie mögen ein paar Funktionen anders haben als die AirPods, dafür kann man sie aber auch nicht verlieren und hat längere Akkuzeiten. Die Kernfunktionen (Klang) sind gleichwertig und ausreichend. Durch den Bügel haben die Powerbeats einen so entscheidenden Vorteil gegenüber AirPods, dass diese für mich komplett uninteressant geworden sind.
