Form over Function
As might be expected from Karim Rashid, form is more important than function. This object provides a fun combination of historic tradition and modern design swagger (more elegant than a saber) - Definitely adds a sense of theatrics to opening your bottles of champagne, but truthfully the back edge of a heavy knife would work better. Nicely packaged - gift worthy and sturdy enough for long term storage or display.

I've used it a dozen times and it works great. My only complaint is that it suffers a small nick in the metal with every use. Otherwise, it's a great piece for entertaining.

Badass but I wish there was a way to catch all the glass! We have a lot of kids at the lake house and can't use it because a few pieces of glass fall off and don't stay attached to the main cork part. Just a thought Let me know if something is out there or an idea.

SOLD UNDER THE PRETENSE AS NEW, ITEM WAS TARNISHED AND SCRATCHED
Item was sold as new. When we received, it was clearly used. The sabre was scratched on the handle and it was tarnished.

LOOKS LIKE A CLASSY APPROACH!
Looks like a cool idea. As a hot air balloon pilot, I have opened about 2500 bottles of champagne this way to celebrate balloon flights. Multiple bottles at the end of most flights. My experience is you need something with some heft (weight) to it. I have been using a 30" kris which is thoroughly stained from champagne. I have used a hunting knife and a cleaver. Won't work with a spoon or lightweight implement. If I didn't have my Kris I'd get one of these. Looks classy.OH, And... my experience is that the top of the bottle sails "over there" 15 feet away when outside, so don't try it underneath your wine glass rack.

It's shiny piece of metal
Very shiny but I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is...

Heavy duty saber-ing!
If you can't sabre a bottle with this then you have no hope of doing so. This is a substantial piece and very sleek looking when not in use.
